Title: Camping restrictions in Qld
Post by: Spada on June 02, 2020, 11:11:53 AM
Am I reading this wrong? https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0016/127150/DPC7309-COVID-19-Restrictions-roadmap.pdf (https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0016/127150/DPC7309-COVID-19-Restrictions-roadmap.pdf)
seems to me that only 20 people at a time can be in a campground?

good luck administering this - "but officer - we were here first... "

Wouldnt all this be easier if it was standard AU wide instead of different everywhere.

Another link https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/government-actions/roadmap-to-easing-queenslands-restrictions (https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/government-actions/roadmap-to-easing-queenslands-restrictions) goes on to have this note -
Quote
Businesses and functions listed under Stage 2 of the Roadmap to Easing Restrictions may have a maximum of 20 patrons in your venue in total.

You may have more than 20 patrons in your venue if you are in compliance with an applicable COVID Safe Industry or COVID Safe Site Specific Plan that has been approved by Queensland Health.

Does this suggest that the campground needs to have a gov approved plan first?

Can I go camping this weekend or not? hard to get a straight answer?

Edit, also found this - https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0035/976490/gathering-movement-qas.pdf (https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0035/976490/gathering-movement-qas.pdf) Page 14 appears to suggest yes.

Can I go camping?
Yes - as long as you continue to follow social distancing and public gathering guidelines in the
Direction. Please note some camping and caravan sites are still not opening shared amenities.

That's how I read it. If you go into Parks online booking, and select a camp ground (I used Cedar Grove), it shows maximum people at any one time = 20.

Rang a few local operators today, haven't found a campground that's open yet. They're all saying the 12th  :'(

I'm wondering if there'll be a Pro Rata on my 12 month beach permit?

I  emailed the Straddie folk and asked the question and received the following reply

Thank-you for your email. Yes we will be extending the expiry date 😊 If your 4WD permit has already been issued – any months that you aren’t able to use due to the closure will be added on to compensate you. We hope that information helps 😊 We really appreciate your support during this time. If there was anything further we can assist with, please do not hesitate to reach out.

I just booked an Upper Noosa River site for this weekend. Also had to download and print out a 'restricted access area authority' form to go on the dash.
2 nights paddling and serenity coming up!

I went on line yesterday and re booked the camp I had at Danbulla National Park - Platypus camping area, for myself and duggie. I booked 2 in my camp and 5 in duggies camp.
The Queensland National Parks cancelled my first booking but sent me a email to tell me they were open again for booking camping areas.

I had a 12 month beach permit to drive on Bribie and they emailed me requesting I apply for a pro rata refund, so after completing the form I got 9 months back.

The way I read it is the 20 people limit is only for the subsequent 'indented' bullet points, and finishes at "Places of worship".

Camping is separate.

Just checked a booking for Fraser .. # 20 people in each camp area in each zone up until the 16 th June IE: Zone 5 .Maheno , Wahba .. then it showed up to 120 per area ..  But that might be reviewed before the 17th june so dont take it as a given .
No good to us as the Border is still  locked .
