A while ago there was some discussion about quick setup touring tents, my personal favourite being the old style canvas single pole tent. Alas they are heavy and bulky and often not cheap :'(
Oztent have just released the Malamoo Teepee 6 & 9 https://www.oztent.com.au/teepee-9p
They have the single central pole but 6 pegs required rather than 4 but they are compact and only weigh 7 or 8 kg.
I don't think they will last as long as the canvas touring tents but are a lot cheaper.
Thoughts?

Not sure about cheaper...the Oztrail canvas touring tents can be had for much less than that.

Even the "plus" version is not much more at $429

I thought they would be a good, light alternative to a touring tent. I saw one set up outside yesterday a camping shop. There was a LIGHT wind.
I asked the guy who was packing it up what it was like. He asked what it was being used for. I said touring. He advised that they are more like a kids backyard or summer weekender style tent. It did look very flimsy in a slight breeze.
Seein it, confirmed by his thoughts really put me off.

There was a good thread once about lending camper trailers to mates... some were 'yea no problems, i know if they burnt my 50,000 Kimberley to the ground they'd replace it' kinda answers...
