Our 11 y/o autistic grandson is living with us now and is gradually making friends at school. So we thought we might get a games console thingo for him to play some games with his friends.
He likes Teraria and minecraft
We must be able to hook it up to a tv, not a computer
Must be able to have more than 1 player at a time
So what do you recommend , I've never bought anything like this before ? Can you get 2nd hand ones ?
cheers Keith

IM an Xbox 1 user.
They are all pretty good now. Yes you can buy used. or this sounds pretty decent

With Xbox - there is a digital ONLY version - no DVD drive - not as good as you cant buy used games on disc
You can also buy used games from EB
Just go to JB or EB games and find what consoles run the games you want.
Xbox 1 S - Playstation all play multiplayer - just make sure the game you want does. Both run through the TV - how old is the TV? what connections are on the back of the TV?? HDMI etc
You'll need internet connection for multiplayer, Xbox you'll need to register and pay for a pass - no idea on Playstation as I dont use it. EB or JB are the places to head for all the info.

Cable is MILES beter than wireless - nothing worse than dropping out 1/2 way through a game.
Wireless controllers are all pretty good, you only need the basic controllers - there are some flash ones for up 500 + that do all sorts of auto aim and Shit.
edit: theres a new playstation coming any minute but will be ****in stupid $$$

we have just recently bought the xbox one s (with DVD/Bluray player)...
our autistic boys love playing minecraft and lego games... :)
we bought an extra controller and also one of these controller chargers:

we then just bought the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which is about $15 per month...

I bought my 10yo girls a second hand PS4.
At first they only played Minecraft.
They were complaining that they couldn’t play with their friends that used other devises, but a recent updated changed that. They can now play with anyone on any other device (tablet, PC, Xbox, etc).
They still play Minecraft pretty often, but Dauntless is the new thing now.
So far we haven’t found anything they really wanted to play that wasn’t on PS4.
Their totally awesome father gave them Street Fighter for christmas and their father and uncle had some great drunken late night battles.... ;D

Don't have one myself but the Nintendo Switch is worth a look (I have a PS4). I think it has more options for games where you can have multiple players in the same room whereas the PS4 and XBox seem to cater more for multiplayer online. They do cater for multi player in the same house but less so than the switch ... so I believe.
Depends on what's important and who he wants to play with/against.

The original nintendo wii's go for about $20 these days (console, controllers and games). Good cheap fun, but not for online multiplayer.

Glad I took all mine out and put it into real estate, the rents keep rolling in.

He's just told me he has 1 of those, but it's at his dipShit mothers place. Don't know what games it'll run if we can get hold of it

I think got one at home he can have if it will do what he wants.. Not sure what I still have for it. although he will need the CD to install the games, so maybe a trip to get hold of Xbox and CD's would be the go.

You can still get pre owned games, including minecraft, on xbox 360.
I have both the 360 and the xbox one.
Kids play minecraft on the 360.
Xbox one is dads haha

Think I got some wii Shit at home, will have a look. Might have traded it in though on xbox stuff.

The best game is Mario Kart, but prices for that are probably 3-4x what the entire console costs. Other mario games are good, as is zelda. Wii sports holds up well too.
Also think about getting the Component video cable as it gives better video quality than the standard AV cable.
