Gday Xcvator, the spanner set brings back memories, I was the state manager for ETC Tools in the eighties, sold a lot of spanner sets in those days, can even lay my hands on a few in my shed.
Cheers

My very first set of tools back in about 1976 was an ETC set. Big 3 drawer set held about 150 tools. Over the years a lot of it has been lost or loaned but the remaining tools are my go to tools every time. Quality stuff.

Yep, generally pretty good gear, the stuff in the old yellow and black packaging was a bit ordinary but the red and black and the industrial range was pretty good. I remember having some spanner sets tested at Amdel against Sidchrome and Gedore and they came up as comparable. I still have a 45pce 1/2 drive socket set that is my go to in the shed, we bought them out to compete against the Sidchrome Test Cricket socket set, Sidchrome $199, etc ind $99, sold a Shit load.
Yeah. Mine is in the red toolbox. Use it every week or so for 40 odd years. The ratchet is dguffed but the 1/2 inch drive sockets, rings and open enders are as good as day one.
