Hi
Just after some info in regards to transporting a 4wd (LC76 with rooftop tent, bulbar and twin wheel carrier) from Brisbane to Perth.
Normal info, cost, experience dealing with them, and duration
In a perfect world, I'll transport the Landcruiser from Maroochydore to Karratha but the quote from Moving Cars was almost $6k, so I am transport from Brisbane to Perth and then drive up to Karratha stopping at the most western point of mainland Australia
Anyway, after so info of the companies that move oversize 4wd interstate

Was going to suggest by rail on the Indian Pacific, but that would be from Sydney .. Have heard of these guys [ FCL ] doing race cars http://www.transcocargo.com.au/blog/344-2/ (http://www.transcocargo.com.au/blog/344-2/)

I'll drive it over and you fly me back.
I'm sure i could do it cheaper than a transport mob. :cup:

Your height and length will be the problem. I recently priced adding the Outback to a trip on the Spirit of Tassie. As soon as I added the tow bar or roof bike rack the price became stupid.
-
As it was mentioned above, look at a quote to drive to Sudney, put on the train, get on the cans for the ride over, then drive up the west coast.

and if its like when I did with commodore your return dates will blow out.

$6000 ? Ned Kelly is certainly still alive.
FWIW, most people who have asked this in the past most have had issues with the car not being empty or standard. But there have been a few that have had success.

Towbar shouldn’t make a difference and normally if over 2.1mtrs high they’ll put you on a different level but once again that shouldn’t change the cost. Maybe it’s changed.
If you are coming over, make sure you look me up as I still owe you a beer

Try Corden Transport. I used them for Perth to Brisbane a few years ago. Car first then my boat on trailer a few months later. Took about 5 or 6 days each time and price was by far the best both times.

Just got a price back from Moving Cars for Brisbane to Perth $1,642
I've state that the 4wd is 2.5m high x 1.8m wide and 5.3m long
It have a roofrack, rooftop tent, bulbar and twin wheel carrier and will have camping stuff in it but no windows will be block.
The price looks better.

If you arnt towing, take the tounge off and select no tow bar.
Can you break the bikes down and stow in the vehicle with their rack ? Then rebuild once arrived.
Regularly travel with cross bars in place and with tow tongue removed for $89.

Try ceva logistics i used them twice from darwin to Melbourne for a gq wagon and a gu ute was around $1000 thos was a few years ago

It is a lot of coin, but is a bloody long way, would work at about $1/km. You could probably visit 15 countries in Europe and only have gone half as far.

Sorry, tow bar bike rack and roof rack bike rack, which makes it longer and taller than standard so yes it needs to go in the another area which there is less spaces and more cost.
Trying to organise a trip to Derby this MTB season.

We looked at that as we are travelling back to NSW soon to pick up the rest of our stuff.
Cheaper to pay for three return trips for mates with utes, than 1 return trip for the Cruiser with a 6x5 trailer.
They will sting you for anything longer, wider or higher than standard.

This is where I’m confused. I’m booked for the national meet and it was only an extra $200 each way to take the camper. I’m sure it used to be more than that. When I did the Simpson I was over 2.1 high and had a towbar but wasn’t charged anymore, but that was 4yrs ago too.

it nearly doubles it for me and my setup.

Would/could your rig fit into a 20' foot shipping container? .. and would that be cheaper..

Hi,
I am surprised at the disproportionate rise in cost when an existing vehicle is lengthened a little.
I have put the details of my vehicle into the system as
1) Landrover Defender 130 cab chassis with a bull bar and an overhanging 2.4m high load making the total length 5.4m
and
2) a 5.4m long Landrover motorhome.
The costs were within a few dollars.
It was in 2014, but the system may well have different cost algorithms by now.
Cheers

It’s because they are mainlanders booking from over there to come here and go back again.
When we book, we are going there and coming back here.
Clear as mud, we are full so we discourage them :)
Go visit Queensland or something, it’s too cold down here and there is nothing to see, you can see the whole state in 3 days ;D

Kev's offer is looking better and better.
Only 47 hours driving time and I could coincide going through Cobar with the Running On Empty Festival.
Once i'm in Port Augusta, is pretty much just up the road.
-
Maybe look at other options.
Transport Qld to Darwin instead then drive to Karratha from there.
Ring the main companies directly. Eg
CEVA / AUTO CARE (Patricks) / PX CAR.
It's that height that'll cost you most times.

Just do a bit of home work and don't take the first quote.

We used ceva (via kent removals) to transport a corolla and the patrol from bris to melb. They don't like anything in the vehicles. We had the pickup driver wanting me to remove the fridge even tho we had previously organised that it was going to be in the car. Fridge is on a locked msa drop slide and unless they broke the whole thing weren't going to get it out. Strangely they are fine with kids car seats which take seconds to remove?
Price was around $1400 for both vehicles door to door. And patrol is 2" lift, 33's and roof rack so just on 2mtrs tall.
One tip i would offer is remove any toll tags you may have in the vehicle because it is a real pain trying to get toll charges reimbursed.

Thank is what I am doing.
Only need to transport the cruiser early next year, so doing all the research and will probably end up with transporting from Britain Shane to either Perth or Broom, leaning towards Perth because summer is wet season up north.

l can see a road trip coming on 8) 8)
