Title: Short camper trailer
Post by: aussie56 on May 27, 2018, 08:33:42 PM
Hi All,

Been a long time since been on here, sold our previous camper trailer and bought a jayco eagle but due to not enough room in our new place I am going to sell it and want to get into a shorter camper trailer.

Love the look and fit out of the Patriot x1 and x2(might be bit small) but might be a bit too expensive for me, can anyone recommend more campers that are around that 3-4 meters in total length.

I’m going to check out the Off Trax metalian but think they are around the same price as the X1.

Going to the Brisbane show in 2 weeks to check them all out, which ones should I pay most attention to?

Thanks in advance Adam.

Will be 2 adults and 1 maybe 2 kids so like that have that extra room.

Just bought a new 4x4 so do hope to go off road more.

The Drifta DOT 6 Army $25k, all aussie made, lots of tent options,  similar to the chunky style of the patriot but about $15k cheaper.

Also Stoneycreek Nugget, $16k imported with 2 different style tent setups.

Also Austrack range (Caboulure) appear to be a good quality for an import trailer. Their small RT trailer is great value

My sister used to have a Goldstream with a fold up draw bar.  It would fit inside a normal garage.
I’ve never seen a camper the same since.

I’ve seen a few vans with folding drawbars. In fact, a mate bought a second hand van that has one.

I have the stoney creek Nugget SF, it is just over 4m long, great camper and will have everything you need.
Let me know if you want any more info or pics. I picked this up for $14,990 including rego with a 70L evakool fridge & 160w solar panel.

4 people... so what ever you buy 'shorter' is going to be cramped.

Apparently G&S Chassis manufacturers do a folding draw bar .

But with the Eagle being just over 4m in the body tub the folding draw bar will still needs a bit more room .. Could be cost effective if you had just enough space to keep the current camper, Saves aprox 1m in storage length..
Stole these pics from a caravan site .

Yep they are the downfalls as compared to the caravan we have now.

I guess I am lucky that the 1 kid is pretty short as it is  ;D ;D

I guess we will have to make our decision after the caravan show in Brissy next week as the wife still prefers the idea of a caravan rather than the camper trailer, so maybe the Jayco Swift will be a swap for our Eagle.

After doing some measurements 4m is going to be my max.

Are there any caravans out there that sleep atleast 3 that people know about which are 4m length including the drawbar, apart from the Swift?
