I've been using asus gear for years and never had a complaint. I have 4 asus computers that still see regular use, the oldest being a laptop I bought in 2008, that went to university in my backpack with me for 6 years.

Last time I had to recover a stuffed laptop the repairer had good used ones for sale...pretty cheap too.

I am using the cheapest Acer I could buy from Officeworks. Its white. It cost about $350. It works well for email, internet etc.
I don't do anything sofisticated on it though so don't ask me anything technical about it.

Aldi have them from time to time.

Decent quality and running Windows *something*...

about $299 last time I saw them...

Can also grab a tablet for around $79 there too...

Thanks everyone for your help it is aboutwhat I was thinking, and the brands mentioned I have heard off ,which is good.
We have purchased an Acer laptop a bit more expensive than we planned but it should suit us for much more than we initially intended and it is able to do what I need over the next month.
Thank you all again tjis is why I love this group......in a totally blokey way  ;D :D :cup:
