Title: Do you recon this could protect camper?
Post by: vicandug on March 30, 2018, 06:18:01 PM
Hi

We got our new camper on 02/02/18. It’s back at the manufacturer for warranty repairs and to also fix the roof because something fell on it.
I wonder if this could be used to protect it. Probably cheaper than a shed

Just my opinion, Never used one or seen one I real life, but a suction cup to the roof in high winds? My crash cam falls off the windscreen after a few weeks, can’t imagine this big kite staying on. As for the protection side of things, if something fell on your roof the same as last time, point of impact is going to be that same centre mounted suction cup, likely to do the same damage, who knows but to be honest I can’t see it giving much protection

My take is if you use it in the car and get a good gust of wind you kit only lose your cover but also your mirrors and door handles.

Can’t see any real benefit other than leaves and twigs.

A good SEQ hail storm generally comes with 100km/h wind gusts, so I wouldn't be confident it would stay on. If the hail missed you, then the flailing structure of the canopy may do some damage anyway.
