Title: Hatchback for the Missus
Post by: chester ver2.0 on January 04, 2018, 07:38:13 AM
Im down to either the Mazda 3 Maxx or Toyota Corolla SR

Both seem to be on par with each other but so far the Mazda is just ahead as all the safety gear is standard (option pack in the yota)

Any real world experiences with each that i could draw on from the my swagger community

Check out the Impreza or XV, missus went from a midspec Corolla to an Impreza and loves it.

When we looked earlier this year my wife liked the Mazda over any other car she test drove, she ended up with a cx5 run out model for a good price but the original intention was the 3.

What's the difference in price between the two? You might get a 2017 model for a discounted price

We drove the mazda 3, civic, astra, corolla, and a few more and ended up with a 3. We wanted to try the Honda again but the dealer "had enough for today I'm going home, and I'm not open Sundays"... so ****ed him up.
Civic was nice... Astra was crap, Corolla she didn't like, although mum had a Corolla Levin for 10 yrs and never had an issue ever.

Very smooth, good view out of all windows for parking, No issues in 5 odd yrs now but it does have a lot of shopping carpark marks in it from other pieces of Shit that don't care about their cars.

Either the Rolla or the 3 will do you for a lot of years.

If you aren't at least test driving a Korean (kia/Hyundai) in that bracket there is an issue. Just on warranty alone. The i30n is close, might be worth the wait if the Mrs like a dash of performance with her shopping trolley as mine does?

What about the VW Polo?
Very light on fuel and have all the safety stuff with reverse camera.
Smaller inside than the ones you mention above, but it is perfect for city driving.

My Mrs just bought a Hyundai Kona (AWD model), it goes well, has plenty of safety features and has a good range of standard stuff over and above the Mazda and Toyota competition.
Warranty is impressive too.

Honda HRV is a great car in comparison with Mazda has much better finish and has heaps more room internally both front and rear. Bought one last January and love it.!
