To use the Nitto fittings, I fitted a Nitto socket with the correct tail to fit the ARB stuff.
Didn't change anything, except to be able to use a lot of extra stuff, or have an option to use other stuff.
Nitto seems to be a more popular fitting nowadays.

so how does this work?

do you make up another hose with an arb 'male' connection on one end (to go into the compressor 'female') and have a nitto 'female' socket on the other end of that hose?

Yep thats the way...I was going to go this on my single ARB but given I already had nitto inflator and air gun there wasn't much benefit in keeping the ARB stuff.

The twin ARB is permanently mounted in the car running the suspension....I have tee'd a nitto in as well.

I had a 'Nitto' female end with an internal thread, I found among the other stuff in the same box a tail similar to the ARB stuff with an exterior thread.
Tried the fit with fingers and it worked.  I then got the teflon tape out, and fitted the tail into the back of the 'Nitto' socket.
I can now use my tyre gauge (with the 'Nitto' tail), on the ARB compressor.

Have a look at this one (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ARB-compressor/152744298239?_trkparms=aid%3D777003%26algo%3DDISCL.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140117125611%26meid%3D331b7964f8bb4b36ad5f033ea92a0e40%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D272056931559&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982) and it should give you an idea, 6hrs to go and 1 bid so far at $150

That model is getting old, haven't seen one like that being sold new for at least 6 years, as they released the blue alloy case model in July 2011-ish

I have the same model it goes all day my only complaint is after doing 6 tyres you then need to wait 15 minutes for it all to cool down enough to touch the thing so you can pack it up

As Drew said

"That model is getting old, haven't seen one like that being sold new for at least 6 years, as they released the blue alloy case model in July 2011-ish "

Mine died 18mths ago ( valving in head broke ) and ARB could not supply spare parts,   basically they said that they are obsolete and do not support them any more. Had a good run out of it over the time and replaced it with the new blue one
