Title: Spots & Things
Post by: speewa158 on October 03, 2017, 07:24:20 PM
Today at  Elmore Field day l got checked out for Nasty Spots on the skin lf you have any Sun Spots on your body then get them checked out as well . Now l have a bunch of Nitrogen burned off nasties , that were collecting .
We are people of the Outdoors that can be susceptible to sun damage , get it checked out . Do , do it before things start to drop off . lts a bulk bill thing so it costs 4/5 of 5/8 of SFA  . And on we go feeling a bit better about it all                         Do it real soon    :cup:

I got checked out last Wednesday, had a heap of spots frozen as usual and one spot I was concerned about prior to my visit frozen then burnt aswell. The doc took a photo of a spot in my ear he was pretty concerned about, after enlarging the pic he said it's not that bad after all, but need to monitor it. Last visit they chopped something out of me...the price you pay for a life growing up and working outdoors. I go every 6 months for a check up, costs about $75 and I get about half back on Medicare.

That's exactly right  if they don't freeze it off  your ears it might drop off & your sunnies will fall off  .

Exactly right, I have had quite a few cut out and at one stage 12 months ago I had a combined total of about 50 stitches spread over 4 or 5 cuts. All Basal Carcinoma's which is good. I lather myself in sunscreen these days but paying for the past.

When my Father was a teenager he was into rowing and then spent 40+ years working as a Bricklayer, so even when he retired his red glow never disappeared.  Due to all those years of working in the sun after age 60 he was on 3 monthly skin checks due to having about 5 Melanomas removed from face/arms, had a slow growing Melanoma in his eye and every 3 months would have at least 20 spots frozen off.

Based on this I’m paranoid with my kids and always make sure they wear sunscreen and sun shirts.

I'm (was :'() a red head, so the forebears should definitely have stayed in Ireland & Scotland, rather than coming to Oz :D

My eldest son has copied my colouring so he'll also burn if he stands under a fluro light for too long :'(, so we, & now he himself, have always been careful with sun protection - cream, swim shirt, cap & so on. The only problem is that he's now pure lily-white, so if he gets caught outside for some unplanned reason without sun protection, then he cooks :'(

Had a cancer cut from near my eyes tear duct and several cut off the back.  I look at the people sunbaking on the beach and just think.."bloody idiots"....mmmm  ..I think I did that as a kid!    As my mate says...date of birth issues!  Older but smarter, I hope.

Hey mate, where do you go locally? Got the doc to give me a check over last time I was in, but was pretty rushed and I didn't feel real confident.
Wife goes to the PA hospital as she has had quite a few nasty ones that they do under a general. I can't get in there and she wasn't overly happy at the scan places as they missed a couple.

i go to SunDoctors at Sunnybank, it's inbetween the Sunnybank Private Hospital and the Sunnybank Hotel...sort of part of the hospital. The doc I see doesn't muck around to much there either, it's a pretty quick visit but he usually zaps me in about a dozen places and noticed the dark spot inside my ear aswell as cut something out of me last visit, so thinking he's thorough in the quick time it takes.

I have fair "English" skin too. Know the feeling. I burn even when I use sunscreen as per the directions, best stuff I can get, etc.

My mate's cousin died from melanoma at roughly 30. It pays to be cautious.

i have the fair colouring as well, despite maltese descent... :)

i find that the 'hamiltons' sunscreen works really well...
