Title: What's happened to the Myswag Gallery?
Post by: KeithB on September 22, 2017, 03:06:31 PM
I was about to add to my build post (World's Slowest Build) when I noticed that all of my pictures had gone. When I opened up the gallery I got this http://gallery.myswag.org/ (http://gallery.myswag.org/)
Can anyone offer any advice?
Keith

The missing photos and pictures on http://gallery.myswag.org/, (http://gallery.myswag.org/,) has it's caused lot's of photos and pics to go missing out of lots of old interesting posts  :'(

If you need a hand with restoration PM or email me, it's what i sort of do for a living and I would be happy to help, with MySQL, PHP, memcache, Apache configs or the modification of old legacy data, to suit a new setup, as this is a great forum.

Yes it has been a bit of a setback for sure. Can anyone offer up any good  free picture hosting sites that allow you to link externally?

There seems to be a lot of sites and would appreciate some guidance in this area.
Not really interested in the"look at me" type of sites that broadcast your pics for all the world to see, I just want a way to resurrect my posts as they now look a bit dismal with the pics gone.

This is just a matter of interest, and for those who like reading the old threads with images etc..  or trying to recover images that were on http://gallery.myswag.org (http://gallery.myswag.org)   try "Wayback Machine"

For instance my old Mahindra build up thread that's been read 76952 times
As it currently stands missing a lot of images http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=17679.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=17679.0) due to http://gallery.myswag.org (http://gallery.myswag.org) being nomore.

Now in to read in Wayback Machine with all the images intact https://web.archive.org/web/20140708190259/http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=17679.0 (https://web.archive.org/web/20140708190259/http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=17679.0) as of 2014

Of course this method of using wayback machine https://web.archive.org (https://web.archive.org) can apply to many old threads that could be of interest, that have missing images, and of course just right click any image of interest and do a save as to save or recover a missing image..   I hope this helps someone

Any chance we can get access to the pic's we uploaded to the gallery ?

I don't seem to be having much luck with "Wayback Machine" as all I see is a pic of the main page of myswag basically ?

I use Smugmug for sharing pics
Works well.
I've tried Flickr, 500px, Zenfolio, photo bucket, and find Smugmug easier and quicker.

I've been using Imgur since Photobucket decided they hated us all stopped allowing direct linking for free accounts. So far no complaints. In theory I could host them on my website server, but I really can't be bothered opening the FTP client and setting up a folder to do that, LOL.
