Title: Eagle outback- bed end awnings
Post by: brianvicki on August 27, 2017, 02:40:21 PM
We have just left for a weeks holiday with our newly purchased 2011 eagle outback.
Sunny weather where we are, but rain coming tomorrow.
Question is, should we use the bed end awnings or not, what actual purpose do they serve ?

Definitely put them up. Another layer of protection from the elements and bird droppings etc. You don't always need the poles though. Just drape them over the bed.

Definately put them up.

Apart from protecting the canvas roof from bird crap and tree sap etc and not to mention insulating from cold or heat, it makes it easier to pack up with a better chance of dry canvas.

Unless it was raining I never used mine. Found the flapping in the wind at night wasnt exactly conducive to a good night sleep.

Cheers Glen

Thank you for the information, much appreciated, worked out how to open the Bedford up without taking the camper down, and of course blue skies this morning in beautiful Port Denison WA

Unless I am only staying overnight I always use mine. Especially at hot times, its an extra layer reducing the heat. Keeps any rain off and can make packing up drier. And general protection for the bed.

If you've got them, why not put them up?

Thank you for the replies, seems like most people do not use the poles, what difference would they make ?

The poles allow more clearance above the bed ends with the awning over the top.
Otherwise the fabric of the awning lays along the top of the bed end.
