Can anyone tell me what the condition of the mereenie loop is at the moment.

Welcome to myswag. Hope you enjoy your time on here.
Your question is very subjective. You will get a different opinion from anybody who comments.
We travelled the Loop in 2014 with a group. We found the road OK, others in the group commented on how rough it was. A person's opinion will be based upon their previous dirt road experiences and their vehicle's set up. If the traveller is a novice, most dirt roads will be rough. If they have some experience, they are better able to judge based upon that previous experience. If their vehicle has OEM suspension, any dirt road will be rough. If their vehicle has "better than OEM" aftermarket suspension, which has been correctly maintained, then their experiences of dirt road travel will be vastly different. So read the feedback you requested but don't place too much emphasis upon it.
Safe travels and enjoy your outback experience.
Happy campin

I agree 100% with KB.
I have done it twice and both times it had sections that had corrugations and it had sections that were recently graded and the last time we travelled it, it had large areas that were wet and we had no choice but to carry momentum through the large water sections covering our car and camper in red dirt.
Lower your pressures and take it easy and itll be fine.

The time we went we had no problems. I think a decent 2WD would do it easily. As has been said, it all depends on the particular conditions and your speed.
Of course if it's wet all bets are off!

It is very subjective. We did it in October last year towing an OR caravan and a 4wd with Ultimate suspension. We dropped our tyre pressures down and took it steady.
We found it rough and corrugated with some washouts but manageable, another van with us turned around and went back. There were people with hire vans doing 100km and overtaking everyone. No sign of recent grading at all but road work at the Hermannsburg end made it good. At Hermannsburg there was no air as the compressor was broken so it pays to have your own.

We did it in September 2016 and seemed ok, a bit rough in a couple places but all in all a good dirt road. The Jayco camper handled it easily.
