Help me decide guys...
Having driven (cars) overseas, the concept of driving a motorbike in' Right Hand Territory' would scare the living daylights out of me. For me it would be all to easy to end up on the wrong side of the road.

I toured Europe the UK and Ireland on my own for six months on a K100 BMW, I had a blast, so many great places, my favourite countries where Ireland, Scotland, Italy and Greece, even took the bike onto the Greek island of Paros, that was brilliant.

I'd love to do Canada or north east US, I reckon Vietnam could be fun also, it might be better if you purchase the bike when you get there, much cheaper that way, also I never had any issues riding in left hand drive countries, a good tip is to ride near the centre of the lanes on two land roads and leave a reminder note on some tape near the ignition key, a girl I met in Austria had some masking tape on hear fairing, it said in capitals "ride on the right"

Have fun, it's a great experience.

Sorry about the pic being backwards, it's the French Alps, heading through Alps Maritimes.

Baz.

I'd like to do what Baz did but not on a K100 :D... but it would be an ADV bike, not a road bike....

Years back Wazza Jack from ADB picked up his K100 from the factory in Germany, rode Europe for year or so and then shipped it back. Went round the clock more than once in the years he owned it too!

From your list - Nepal.. none of the others interest me in the slightest.

Few nice ideas...

The Himalayas would be magic plus some place that the Northern Lights happen. That would be pure magic to be riding along and to see that start up out in the open.  8)

Could you imagine riding along with this happening around you, just pure magic!  :cup:

I've ridden in Nepal, Thailand,Myanmar and Indonesia but only on short term hire basis.  A great way to see a country as you get much closer on a bike than a car.  I'd love to do a longer stint in the saddle OS

This is what I did Bruce, met a couple of guys doing the same at Frankfurt airport going through customs, I rode with them for about 2 months before heading off on my own, we took the train out to the BMW Factory just out of Munich and picked up our bikes together, I was the only one with the Naked K100.

The Naked K100 is brilliant off road, very nimble bike, I'd go as far as to say better than some ADV bikes, but yeah a newer ADV bike would be a better choice.

I consider India as well.

Having spent 3 years in China, I would not recommend this as a place to ride my bike, any bike for that matter.

Dont get me wrong, I love China.
Lovely people, interesting culture, beautiful scenery (once away from the cities)
But the roads are dangerous, seriously so.

The fact that most Chinese can navigate this mess is testament to their ability as drivers.
More times than I could count I expected to die while just being driven to work each day.
5 lanes of traffic on a 3 lane road, high speed in a barely functional, let alone mechanically sound vehicle and drivers all trying to get to where they want to be as fast as possible.

A bike in that environment is suicide.
This is why bikes are not allowed on freeways in China, a sensible rule.
and to top it off, if or when you do have an accident, the ambulance has to get through the traffic which just dont care and the hospitals are nothing like Australian hospitals.

Visit China, see Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong.
But use the public transport system.
Leaves ours for dead, cheap too.
The people are great and it is an experience I would suggest anyone have before they die.

Just dont ride a bike there.
Or it could be your last experience.

My brother just came home from 7 years in China , spent a few years on Hainan where the roads are great with hardly any traffic.
Still managed to break a collar bone and had a colleague die in bike accident.

Ride anywhere you like, just make sure you have plenty of travel insurance.

Alaska, you must like it cold lino6 LOL, Nepal Katmandu to Tibet was awesome but legalities and officialdom are painful in Tibet. Next I would like to try Vietnam plenty of good reports about that place. one of the best rides I've done was the Great Central road from Laverton WA to Alice via Olgas.
