Just got back from Easter away. In my typical last minute rush I fixed a few things identified after the last trip, but didn't get everything done. Got back today and I really should spend some time soon getting the mods done, but I'll probably and up leaving it until too late again while household things take over.
Still need to sort out my wiring, mount a solar panel, fix the water pump and tank leak etc etc
Do you get straight into mods or spend lots of time 'planning' and then last minute rush before the next trip?

We plan like mad leading up to any big trips.
Hubby has been spending months already on our car getting it sorted before we hit the Simpson in a couple months. We like to have it as perfect as possible. You live and learn each trip and change little bits and pieces, but anything we know is a good idea to have done will get done before we leave. :)

I usually do mine in the 3-4 days prior to leaving, despite having the best intentions of doing them earlier

If it's electrical I usually do it when camping with MySwag members that are more knowledgable than myself, mainly jclures and dougie.
If it's mechanical I usually do it well before a trip so I can change it 29487593$;9 times before I like it, usually doing the last change in the wee hours of the night before leaving ;D

Got a small list of things I've thought of doing on the camper, but it's a few years old now and I never get around to doing any of it. I did however repair the flyscreen zipper yesterday after it didn't work over Easter, and when I got back at Xmas time I changed the shower hose set up...so it appears that if it's a 5 minute fix I seem to do it straight away, and if it's a bigger job I put it on the back burner...lol

Always a mad rush to complete mods, just before we head off on a trip.

MODS mods !! You say, I'd just be happy to be able to get the digit out enough to finish building the bloody camper, Three years its been a garden ornament now .. Though there has been a rush of blood and a definate push to try and finish it in the few months before holidays last year and this year .. But health / work / life and other reasons seem to get in the way .. Oh well its a into a house again this year for Fraser .

My mods are usually done just as soon as I discover a mate has something better than mine.
like, why have I got two of something..........................because my mate only has one >:D

Best intentions as well... usually forget about them until the day before going away :( Like the trailer plug I need to replace... which this thread reminded me of.. :'( :'(
-
I always tried to keep on top off the mods and the more costly ones i just saved then did them ... that was for both the Patrol and camper

Mine are usually a week before I go. Minor repairs and oil changes tend to happen after I have put on my good clothes and am hanging around waiting for my wife to get ready :-[.
Major accessories are when she gives me some play money, which reminds me, I better get some side steps before she spends it on useless stuff like food and clothes for the kids. ;D

LOL that sounds familiar :)

Its my first camper so always working on something just tinkering in the garage at night or over the weekend after each trip try it work out ways of making life easier for the family also setting up and packing up improvements

They start whenever, the planning gets started much earlier but the actual execution is often $ dependent.
BUT, I will say... make sure whatever you've made fits BEFORE the day you're leaving for a 4 week road trip, especially if it's something critical such as the kitchen... our kitchen gets loaded into the middle of the trailer and then pushed over to the side it travels on as the top bar on the trailer is lower on the sides (aka the floor has less of a bow in it there) as we discovered that it only went that way at midday on the Thursday we left for the drive to Tasmania...
Current project (boom boom) is the battery supply for the fridge and general USB charging whilst away. Slowly hoarding bits and pieces, but that project seems to have also gained a bit of extra stuff in that I seem to be making a floor for the boot of the car as well to attach things to...

Glad to see I'm not the only one planning, planning but leaving the doing until almost too late.

In my case , Mods are like Evolution . They just keep on going and changing with the times . ;D
-
Usually a mad rush up to the time (and slightly after) planned departure, one of my other issues is trying to cross things off of my list faster than I add them, not succeeding on that front at the moment either.
-
Plan and plan then leave til last minute and not get any of them done , was supposed to go away this weekend but i think i might actually get a chance to mount my water tank and fit the new bows i had made up.
-
I always put a list together just after a trip of mods I need to do and mustn't forget about.
Then I leave it for a week or two and get distracted and end up losing the list and next trip rolls around and I think to myself 'wasn't I going to fix that?!'
