Title: Good undercarriage truck wash?
Post by: SEADOO on April 07, 2017, 08:23:14 PM
Is the CT18 Truck Wash any good for the undercarriage of your 4wd?

It's been a couple of years and I want to get all the dirt and grime off.

I used to use a garden sprayer. Mix it up, spray it on and let soak, then hose off.

Does it affect the rust spots and old broken bits?
What about the exhaust. Any after affects?

I would stay away from CT-18.
It appears to be alkaline.
I stopped using it years ago when I saw what it was doing to the zinc passivate on the screws on my dirt and road bikes, it was sending them frosty and also effecting the ally where its residue sat in gaps.
I use Shell Dobatex Red (formally Teepol) it works well diluted and can be used neat as a mild degreaser.
No affiliation with Shell.
So if you dont want frosty nuts and your soft bits rotting away in your undercarriage or a wierd residue in your crack I wouldn't  use CT-18 .

no after affects or issues with exhaust. i use an old weed n feed bottle on the hose with detergent mixed with a product called black magic. works fantastic at taking the crud off. then pressure wash after soaking for about half an hr. repeat if required with normal soap and hot water in the mix. cheers

we've used it for years with excellent results.
I rinse the car then spray the truckwash on with a garden sprayer then leave it a few hours or overnight then hit it with the pressure washer. Chassis comes up better than new.
