Title: Metal detector marriage saver needed Kinkuna
Post by: Annieandandy on February 19, 2017, 07:44:53 AM
Hi all, am currently camping at kinkuna south of Bundaberg and yesterday afternoon stupid me decided to take my wedding ring off to chop wood. Me being a silly male forgot to put it back on and yep lost it in the sand.

Needless to say the wife is not impressed with my efforts and after going over the area with a rake a thousand times it seems the sand monster has my balls in his hands.

If by any chance there is someone in the area with a metal detector and could offer some help, it would be most appreciated.

Cheers Annie and Andy could be soon just Andy lol

Does Bundy have an Australian Geographic shop, Might be able to pick up a cheapy detector to help you find the ring ?? as it shouldnt be too deep in the sand yet .

Well who would have thought that a bloke in Victoria would know a bloke from Bundaberg who only know each  other through another forum that is into prospecting.

A quick phone call from Darren and he was in the car with his two kids coming to my aid.

After about 30 mins of scanning the area and after 100's of bottle caps the machine made an odd noise and about 5mm below the sand was my lost ring.

Darren was happy to get out of the house and the kids loved the adventure. An awesome result and I'm back in the good books. :-)

Thanks again to xcvator, your help was very much appreciated.

Cheers everyone

Annie and Andy.

Good news mate well done to you guys.  I was starting to feel really bad for you considering the lifetime of pain and suffering you were just about to start experiencing.

Good outcome mate, good work Xcvator and your northern contact,
Pity you didn't loose ya phone Andy, stop sending camping photos when I'm trying to work, who does that? Lol
Who is chopping the wood tonight? Could have been your head on the block,

There is a way of never losing it again. Don't wear it. I can't remember the last time I had mine on. Not because I don't want to. I won't wear any thing on my fingers at work and aren't going to throw it on to wear around the house. Wifey doesn't have a problem with me not wearing it. I barely even wear my watches.
Cheers, Mike.

I hope Excavator has it in his will to bequeath his list of contacts to the forum.
Hope it doesn't happen for a long time yet, cause I'm not sure if he's written 'em all down yet.

X2...can't remember the last time I wore my wedding ring, and to be honest I have no idea where it actually is. My wife took the ring and put it somewhere because I was trashing it at work (covering it in concrete and basically destroying it generally being I work construction), I've got no idea where it is.

for what it cost I'm sure she does...lol....probably wouldn't be hard to find if I went searching for it, but I don't miss wearing it, so don't really care where it is. Same goes for my dress watch also, stopped wearing that watch a while back, now I find it's to heavy and annoying to wear, so it doesn't get worn these days either.

Ahhhhhhhhh,

I'm feeling all gooey!!!!

Seriously though. I love a good story. Beats the usual bad news we see so much of.
Glad to see a good result.

Best wishes
Brian

I did exactly that the other day whilst stuffing about with super glue lol had to nearly cut my finger off to unstick the ring.

That lump of wood must be made of concrete so it's on the fire now in one piece burning away. I'll stay up and watch that thing die if I have to!

I just read this story (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-39894787) and thought of this thread.

I have to admit, I'll take my wedding ring (titanium) off when I'm doing somethings as it does have a pronounced edge on it, and I don't fancy de-gloving my finger...
