Title: Kimberley Kamper boat loader options
Post by: Sjlbuild on February 12, 2017, 12:16:46 PM
Has anyone else used a Kimberley boat loader for storing items other than boats?

We have just mounted an aluminum roof rack to ours to carry more items.

Photos would be great

Did you upgrade your springs or did you KK already have the heavier springs?
Upgrade requirement will depend on what weight you intend to carry
If you upgrade your springs your springs you will probably need to change the limiter strap as the springs will most likely sit higher

Why do the springs need upgrading. I made my own boat loader and outboard swing away and holder for the folding boat trailer and didn't upgrade any suspension. I have been to Fraser and various other places and never had an issue.
What is upgraded. Is it just the springs.
I'm not trying to be a smart ass just interested in what is meant to be upgraded.

I have the airbag suspension on the 2016 model. I can load weight up to 1800kg or there abouts.

Airbags nice.
I only carry the tinny half the boat trailer and a few fishing rods on mine sorry.
Have seen people use the boat loader with a roof rack instead of having a roof rack ontop of the car.
Think it would have been a pain to get stuff off when the rack was opened off the camper.

We had southern cross canvas custom make us bag that fits between the floor supports when the camper is packed up. It can fit a couple of coleman instant 4p tents my daughters Oztent stretcher and at least a few chairs + more. It has heavy duty straps on it that use the supports to clip on so no need for extra tieing down. The great thing about it doubles as waterproof storage when we are on site which we stick under the trailer and extra gear like chair and stretcher covers can be thrown in and is protected from rain, animals etc.
