Title: kids sleeping stretchers
Post by: Sjlbuild on February 05, 2017, 07:07:13 PM
Hi all,

we are heading off around oz in about 6 months and have a kimberely kamper. for the 1 night stops the kids (4&7) will sleep on the floor of the camper. they currently use a double mattress out of a swag to sleep on. we are looking for some kids stretcher beds that fold up small and are good quality. we have looked at all the the common places like BCF, rays outdoors etc......but dont seem to be able to find anything worthwhile. Does anyone know of any stretchers worth looking at?

We run with the bunks in our KK. All screwed together so it all lays flat on the bed. Then all we do is put the 2 bottom feet on and it is all set up in about 30 seconds. Our girls 11 and 7 sleep on these while the boy swags it outside. We also have thin self inflating mattresses ontop of the bunks that are cable tied on so they stay on there as well.

Oztent stretcher. Our daughter sleeps on one on the floor of our KK. Comfy, top quality and folds up into a bag and stores under the bed.

Oztent stretchers for anything more than 2 nights. A sleeping mat on top for extra comfort. If not sleeping mat on floor for single overnighters.

Air matresses stored on main bed. Stretchers stored in walk way or beside matress on bed base

Just the normal oztrail stretchers. Just tec screwed together so they fold flat and don't have to be assembled every time you set up. Only put the 2 feet hoops on.

Probably cost more to post than what they are worth. We got them about 4 years ago and i think they only cost about $150. Then it was about 30mins work with a hacksaw and a drill and all done.
We used some cheap yoga mats on top of them for both kids. Longest they spent on them was every night for 5 weeks, but there were no complaints. They packed up on top of the KK's bed and it all folded up nicely. That includes a pillow top on top of our mattress and the Qwik awning left attached as well

Here is a thread that I got the idea from. It shows you were the screws need to go. http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=27881.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=27881.0)
Hope this helps.

Yep, similar to what i did,  but i went one step further do that they can come apart and we can have the one bed option.......but the concept works really well

We got this style... piss easy to put up and pack (Bek was putting her bed up at 9yr old) , and pack up to about foot n half/2ft  long and foot round.. sorta scissor action legs.. really strong and good quality.. not sure what brand ours are but they are green in a green bag.

That's my bunk beds in the link. my sone now sleeps in a swag but I still use the bunks, with one level as a handy storage area for the kids clothes and bags, instead of crawling around the floor.

Another tick for the folding bunk beds. Stole the idea from the above myswagger and works a treat with the two kids and folds flat on our main bed for staorage. Self inflating mattress on top for comfort. Takes 1 minute to setup.

Our kids originally used Oztrail stretchers which were great for about four years and then as they got used and kids got bigger they started to wear a little and got squeaky.  Have just upgraded last year to the Oztent stretchers (both same design).  Oztent ones are a little bigger to pack up and are heavier than the Oztrail stretchers. Both are great and two different price points.
