I'm currently "on hold" with QANTAS and have been so for an hour! They told me the wait would be "more than 20 minutes" and I guess they weren't lying but maybe they could be accused of being misleading. Anyway, I'm thoroughly p##sed off and giving up. What's your record for being "held up"?

The week before the Ansett airlines collapse I was on hold for 1 hour 40 minutes trying to get through to book a flight to LA using the frequent flyer points I had with them...
Finally got through and made all the arrangements and booked the trip....
All this was done from a cordless home phone btw. ... omg - I was stressed that the phone battery would die...
Anyway - all done and all good - and the last question the guy asks is: "do you want travel insurance"?...... "na"
I reckon if I had said yes - I would have been covered when they collapsed 10 days later grrr LOL....

98 minutes on hold to Govco last week and then they couldn't help me >:(

Telstra..... On hold from 1999 until 2007. The golden years of piss poor customer service. :)
The wife tried to call Govco last night to sort out child care stuff. They don't put you on hold, they just don't answer the phone. We had 2 phones continuously calling their number for about 45 minutes, just got the busy signal until we finally got an available line. Then it took 2.5hrs to change our address on their system. :|
