Do any swaggers have a weather station they put on their camper while camping?
I'm thinking of something like this - https://www.holmanindustries.com.au/products/solar-weather-centre/ (https://www.holmanindustries.com.au/products/solar-weather-centre/)
Can be used to tell the weather, but can also help the kids learn about weather.

No but thought about getting a Barometer once .. But went with the old skool optic version instead, No batteries but Can get a little expensive to run as its powered by beer most of the time when you take it out camping .. Never failed yet but can be a little off if it gets too much power .. ;D ;D

The weather guage i use is a length of string nailed to a tree out in the open........
If it moves....... It's windy
If it throws a shadow.....it's sunny
If there's no shadow....it's overcast
If's it's dripping .....it's raining.
Seriously......If you have a week end or holidays booked in...take the weather as it comes.....but...for educating the kiddies.....i say go for it.....it's the times we are in....pure tecnology....
Cheers Tracker.

Got something similar at home, but don't take it camping as it's mounted a top our gate house. My kids are always interested in seeing how much rain we've had, it's amazing how different areas of the same place get different amounts fall...ie: the other week parts of Brisbane got over 90mm of rain one arvo, yet we only got 17.3mm

I use a rock ... it gives you a bit more info
If the rock is wet, it's raining.
If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing.
If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining.
If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy.
If the rock is not visible, it is foggy.
If the rock is white, it is snowing.
If the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost.
If the ice is thick, it's a heavy frost.
If the rock is bouncing, there is an earthquake.
If the rock is under water, there is a flood.
If the rock is warm, it is sunny.
If the rock is missing, there was a tornado.
If the rock is wet and swinging violently, there is a hurricane.
If the rock has white splats on it, watch out for

I have an entry level weather station at home and there's a few guys in our little valley that follow the weather. It's interesting to see how much of a difference just a kilometer or 2 can make (this week there was about 8mm difference).
For camping I prefer the rock/string technique. If it's wet it's raining. :D

We have a basic weather station that we take camping that does temp-humidity-pressure and its fun to keep an eye on while camping along with all the other volt meters, amp meters and thermometers that we tend to constantly monitor ;D
The other option if you have a broadband connection is to tap into someones local weather station using a wunderground app on smartfone etc https://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/overview.asp (https://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/overview.asp)

Great suggestion. If you connect to Werribee Weather (soon to become Truganina Weather) you'll get the data from my personal weather station.
