Anyone else watching the start and following the race? Looking like a clean start leading to a power race south down the NSW east coast.
-
Nup, I find it the same as cricket these days = like watching paint dry or the grass grow. ;D Sorry but I do listen to the news on which boat is in front. ;) Also have much respect for those that do it.

yup, I'd agree with that, except for listening to whose infront... couldn't give a Shit...
to be honest I didn't even know it was still going.

I did the race back in 2000. I don't know why anybody would do more than 1.

Yep - love it. Cant get enough of it. Will check the tracker every few hours. Went out on the harbour today on one of the captain cook boats to watch the start.
-
It's a yearly event around here. I gave up sailing when I had kids. Might get back to it one day.
-
We are in Hobart and looking at going down the dock on Wednesday.
I got to watch the first 30mins while having lunch at Bothwell.

Wild Oats is out with a broken hydraulic ram.
-
Interesting about Wild Oats.... all their gear problems over the past few years both in races prior to and during the Sydney to Hobart seem to have occurred since they cut it up and rebuilt as a longer hull.... I'm guessing their was a fair bit of gear changed during that rebuild to cope with the additional stresses/strains and tuning requirements and a boat which then handled differently....
-
I need to loose some weight.
Perhaps I should go in the race.
I could burly up all the way and Id loose Kilos.
Perhaps next year.
-
Another year over.

Another year over.
Just checked the standings and there is only 3 that have finished so far and around 80 still sailing ;)
We are going to wander down soon and hopfully see a few arrive while doing the Taste Of Tasmania.
-
We managed to get to constitution dock 30 sec after Loyal crossed the line.....just missed it by a bees dick
An early morning arrival is very subdued compared to the race start. I'm guessing around 300 people at the finish.
The owner/skipper spoke well and also mention they radioed up wild oats when it come to a sudden stop offering to stop racing and assist if required as they thought the sudden stop was due to a man overboard.
He mentioned Loyal is now for sale as he has a new venture in sailing.

Your description matches the one I am thinking of, 6 guys on it, hand tiller, open stern cockpit. Beautiful timber.
Glad they made it then, if it is them.

Yep that's its and it was the brides favorite boat when we were walking around.
The don't post the Race numbers so I'm stumped on its name.
-
Saw them on the telle tonight, what an effort, beating their own record by day and a half.
As much as I admire the effort, I think I'll hope for a ride on something more dry and bigger for that bucket listof mine.... ;D
