I have been reading alot of issues people have been having getting things fixed / after sales service from van manufacturers.
Just curious if any member here has had issues after purchasing their van. It seems it is expected that you will have issues after buying one.
There are some scary stories out there. Poor quality build, the specs of a van being wrong making them un roadworthy, little or no aftersales service, the list goes on. And this happens on well known brands.
Happy for people send me a pm if needed.

The only issues I have had so far are of my own making. Breakages because I'm a noob or because dumb bad luck hit me. Mind you I have only had my current camper for a few months.
That all said the guys who have maintained my trailers in the past once joked that there isn't a caravan (yes caravan not camper) owner alive who didn't have to have at least some plumbing or electrical problem fixed in the first 6 weeks.
Only real challenge for me is that the "back to factory" repairs are an 800km drive. Lol.
Just choose a reliable local builder. And be polite to them when you call with problems.

Yep had issues. I considered significant. Manufacturer didn't or wouldn't believe the extent of problem. Still to this day they won't admit there was an issue. However the "fix" they did on our camper is now standard on all new ones.
Good luck.

I know of one Swagger who's van spent more time back at the manufacturers / being repaired then it did at their house in the first year of ownership. I believe lawyers were involved at one stage also, and van was sold in disgust after a short period of ownership. Some of the issues were cosmetic, but other issues were structural related and pretty poor supposed repair done by the well known manufacturer.

On our 5 months trip this year in our new hard sided camper we had several minor issues. I kept in touch with the manufacturer by email so that was a record of the faults as the van would have been out of warranty by the time we got home.
When we got home I arrange a time to take the van to them for inspection and they actually found a couple of other things that in their opinion needed fixing.
I had to leave the van with them for a couple of weeks and every thing was fixed ok, even cleaned off all the red dust, only problem was getting from Somerville to Epping.
Overall pretty happy with the manufacturer ;D

hard wall camper
Isn't that an oxymoron?

My sister & husband bought a well known unit.
After quite a few issues showing up during some extremely heavy rain the "agent" signed off on a complete replacement.
It took them almost 12 months to get it but all is good now
And they still had the original to use until it arrived
Cheers

I'm the opposite end of the spectrum. Having purchased an Australian Offroad Quantum in 2009, I've had nothing but excellent after sales service from them.
I have no hesitation in recommending their products or service.

I brought MDC from the Melbourne Branch and what great after sales service!!!!!!! All for $19.990 Hard floor ;D :cup: :cup: :cup:
It all comes down to the company and not where it is purchased. Locally or imported but if you buy from the wrong company, it can be very painful!!!!
Heard of another person buying a locally made one and they treated him like crap. He rolled up, unhitched his caravan and told them he wasn't coming back till it was fixed. Took them a while but with a few consumer affairs calls he got it sorted.
At the ended of the day you can always "phone a friend"
You will always get teething problems, goes with the sale these days. It's how they handle it that separates the companies today.
