Title: Beach fishing Illawarra/South Coast -Help to find a campsite
Post by: PhantomWalker on November 10, 2016, 10:49:50 AM
Need help to find a campsite.

I am planning a trip in my new camper trailer and am looking for somewhere nice to camp for a few days. Don't have a 4 wheel drive, dirt roads OK.

I will need to pick my girl friend up from the South Coast train line, that go as far as Bommerderry.

Really looking for something really relaxing probably prefer more natural camp site with walking distance to beach.

Just want to fish and practice the elusive beach worming.

Don't need power etc.

No Kayak on this trip, but hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Kind regards,

Phantom

1.5 hours from Bomaderry:

Pretty Beach - http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/pretty-beach-campground-murramarang-national-park (http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/pretty-beach-campground-murramarang-national-park)

Not sure where the marine reserve starts but you can definitely fish off the headland and the beach in front of Merry Beach Caravan Park - its a 400m walk from Pretty beach campground.  Or camp on the beach at Merry beach itself:  http://www.merrybeach.com.au/attachments/sitemap.pdf (http://www.merrybeach.com.au/attachments/sitemap.pdf)

North Durras, Depot beach has a campground run by National parks. Unsure of the marine park situation and fishing there though. Moruya breakwall and Mystery Bay primitive campgrounds are both on the beach with toilets and water. Fires allowed and can take your dogs, hard to find these days. Sounds like a good holiday, don't forget your surfboard!

Pretty beach, depot beach, Murramurang are all good.   Take pot luck.  Turn up to whichever sounds most interesting to you, and explore some of the others while you are in the area.
