We often have people come on and ask advice on what fridge to buy. We already have a poll on Fridge Brand but I thought it might be helpful if we poll what size people are using and how many people on average its being used for.
You can choose upto three options, so if you have more than one fridge put in both.
I have an Engel 60L and we usually have 2 Adults and 3 Children but often take up to 5 children.
It means that if we are going away for a week or more than we have to play the rotate the drinks game for the first couple of days but we don't mind doing that.
Originally I thought that if I could buy it over again then I would get 2 smaller fridges so that I could either run both as fridges or one as a fridge and one as a freezer, but due to power consumption considerations and no longer having a duel battery setup in the car I would probably just keep my 60L and get a smaller one to run as a freezer when I felt I needed it. Money being a consideration and fridges being as expensive as they are I probably wont be buying another one on a whim to just use when I felt like taking icy poles!
If I am going away for a week or more than I have to be more organised on how I pack the fridge, I cryovac everything I can and have zoned areas so I know where everything is.

We have 2 A & 3 kids.
Generally use 60l fridge freezer as a fridge with pre-made meals stored frozen in zip lock bags (at start) along with diary & salad items in fridge and drinks in esky with block ice and a crushed ice layer to "seal" it.
As food is used we rotate drinks through fridge into esky.
-
We have an offroad van which has a 140lt Waeco in it, and also a Waeco CF35 for some extra freezer space.
We also have another Waeco35 in the back of the car which we use on day trips.
2A + 2C.
-
We usually travel as 2 adults only. What we take Depends on the trip..
We have an 80L DZ, a 65L DZ, a 50L and a 40L
We mix and match as necessary... currently the 65L resides in the Crossover.

2 Adults... we last ran 2 x 35 L fridges in the CT - 1 as a freezer PLUS a 60L in the tug [for drinks] which was also used if we tented it...
-
Surprised the 35-45 litre category isn't winning. This covers your usual Engels.
I have an old 39l and a newer 40l. The poll didn't let me vote twice for the one category. That may skew the results.

yea, some run 2x 40's which wont work voting :P
but its a bit of a how longs apiece of string poll... too many variables.
-
Same here Bird. 2x40lt Engels for 1 or 2 people. 1 as a fridge the other as a freezer however, if it's a local trip or a short trip it's 1 fridge.
Definitely too many variables.

I added an option for running a 2nd 35 - 45 Ltr fridge, not perfect but at least its an option now.
-
4 days or less swmbo and I only use the 40 litre Engel.
More than 4 days we also take the 35 litre Engel as a freezer.

95lt Evacool. Supereconomical on 12volts. These days it's just normally me and the Mrs but it is always full wether it's a three day camp or a two week camp.
We also have a 35 lt gas fridge for long trips as well.
Yes... We eat and drink well.
-
80 litre in the camper for food, 50 litre in the car for the good stuff

-
2 Adults and 2 kids. We have 3. 40 ltr Waeco upright in camper, 40 ltr Engel in truck, 40 ltr dometic 3 way in reserve
Our battery set up is 210ah in the camper, up to 66 ah in the truck. With 12v from truck, 240v and solar charging options for each. 260w of solar across 3 panels.
Short trips or regular long drives (to recharge batteries), with options to regularly shop = 40ltr Waeco only, no solar
longer trips, infrequent or no chance for shopping, regular long drives = waeco and Engel, with no or minimal solar
Longer trips, infrequent or no chance of shopping, base camping = 40 ltr Waeco and Dometic 40lt on gas + all solar
Cheers

Er, damn polls don't work on tapa........I rarely use the website
Either way we have 2 x 40L Engels, 1 x 32L Engel and about to buy a 60L Evakool.
Only did the freezer thing once and didn't suit....always have 1 x 40 in the car and a 32L in that camper...there is another 40L in the trailer for when the three kids come along
Camper is on the market therefore chasing a 60L for the poptop fender
-
We have a 75L Ironman in the CT and a 40L Engle in the truck. Two adults plus an 18mth old, and expanding. More then enough space with these two fridges.

80L Waeco in the camper for food, milk, juice and a 40L Engel in the Patrol for the drinks and food for day trips. The 40L is sometimes not big enough but we always manage. That's for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 kids.

Been a while since my last post. 2 Adults and 2 Kids. We have a 80 litre Waeco in the Trailer as fridge. For longer trips we have a 40 Litre Waeco in the car for freezer or for drinks for boys weekends away :D.
-
Dual zone in the canvas camelot and 40lt in ute for liquid relaxants.
-
I have an ARB 47 in the ute and a CFX 50 in the trailer, Its just me normally and occasionally (and I mean occasionally) I'll have the MFWAF tag along and spoil the tranquility. so its one fridge for beer and the other for food and soft drink
-
We have a Waeco 95lt CFX in camper and 50lt CFX in car for beer. 2 campers.
-
60Lt fridgemate in the cruiser.
It's both fridge or freezer or both. Great for short stays for the three of us(Older kids have a life away from us these days) ;D
When we(5) all go, plus the eldest's BF we take the camper(Jayco Swan) which has a 90lt 3way Dometic, so I've voted 60lt & 3 people.
-
2 x 60 litre engels in the truck box = 1 for drinks & 1 for freezer plus 1 x 90 litre x 3 way in the camper for food.
-
40lt Engel in the Triton and 164lt Thetford 3way in the van.
-
