Update Friday 23rd Sept. As is the norm these days, its good to report that there is CCTV of the incident and the footage is with Qld Police for further examination. One photo has been released.
Police would like to talk to the occupants of this 200 Series Toyota Landcruiser wagon which appears dark in colour if not Black. It has a very distinctive Bull Bar and Snorkel, antenna and may have also been lifted. Not only is the occupants maybe responsible for the theft of the camper, but also damage to the Work and Play van of Kakadu and another van.
If you recognise this vehicle could you please contact the Police or Crimestoppers in you state.

Last night, some low life broke into the gated yard of Kakadu Annexes and stole a two week old Jayco Swan Outback. As you can imagine the owners are devastated not having even slept it as yet. The registration is 926-UDJ and has EZY Camper Arms and awning fitted. If anyone sees this camper in their travels could you please contact CrimeStoppers or your local police. I'm sure the owners would appreciate any help.

that's ****in low..
insured???

Know the feeling when our first Jayco was knocked off from my factory premises one weekend. It was insured and we didn't replace it at the time although it was still a couple of years before the kids wouldn't want to be seen dead with mum and dad camping anymore. Never saw it again and makes you wonder how they rebirth them for the unsuspecting.

You can pick them up at Carac.. they have piles of them.

If you walk into a Qld Transport office and pay $5.50, they'll give you a blank one with a VIN # issued in your name to engrave on it.
It's easier to rebirth a trailer in Qld than it is to open a bank account. Other states are possibly the same.....

Thanks Squalo for posting the picture. Couldn't get into my Photobucket account last night to upload it. Thanks also to those who have forwarded the message on.

Apart from its VIN plate under the front hatch my Jayco has its serial number in raised weld on the drawbar and all galvanized. You could grind it off and weld a new number on it but it's a bit hard to galvanize with the body, etc attached.
Still if the villains did what you say, how many buyers would check the discrepancy?
That one in the pic looks like lots of shiny new Jaycos by the way :(

I've just received a picture of the stolen Swan with the Ezy camper Arms and Awning fitted. There isn't many 2016 models with this awning on them so I think it should stand out if you happen to see it. Picture thanks to Daniel at Kakadu.

Both my Jaycos have had the VIN weld raised on the drawbar. My old Flight and new Swan.
I also wonder if a buyer would note that? I would, but would others?

11.23 seconds with grinder..
4 min 23.11 seconds with welder...
14.983 seconds with tin of Gal paint..
Remember chances are the arsewipe wont be selling it but using it...
So in 10 yrs time when he sells it it will all have blended in and look natural...

Given that a lot, if not all, states/territories don't reinspect vans/campers after they are first registered I suspect that a lot of stolen vans/campers aren't actually onsold and the thief simply transfers plates from another van/camper they already own to the stolen van/camper.
