Title: Soft floor with bedroom only?
Post by: Me on August 19, 2016, 03:05:48 PM
Hi all,

We were at the Adelaide caravan & camping show a few weeks ago & saw a soft floor type CT that could be made up with the bedroom only. We didn't take much notice at the time, but having thought about it some more, we'd like to have a closer look at one. The concept seems great for overnight stops.

Does anyone know the name of the manufacturer by chance?

Thanks in advance for any assistance given :)

Trackabout have a new tent similar to what you are describing and I think Armadillo/Customline were coming out with something similar.

A camper that's just a bed?

If I don't use my awning or set up the kitchen then my camper has just the bedroom set up. It's not entirely different from any other soft floor.

Lifestyle did one too about 5 years ago. Bloke down the road had one. Great for a couple with no kids.

It's the awning that takes the time on mine. 2-3 mins to do the tent only, once the cover is off. Really, 6 pegs and tighten two poles. Can't see where the saving would be compared to that track about I'm only sticking in 6 pegs extra? Overnight stops = No awning.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

Those links are just what I was after! :D

Already got a soft floor. Looking to modify it to make overnight stops on long outback trips more enjoyable. We've been doing this a while now & setting up/taking down everyday when touring dirt roads sucks with a full soft floor! (Maybe a Cameron Concept would be the exception though!).

We now have a small off road caravan for easy trips, keeping the CT for more out the way places.

Thanks again! :)

No getting mats out of CT for under tent, no putting mats together, no folding out tent, no pegging out tent, no adjusting poles, no putting all our crap inside tent..... Done this routine a few times lol!

I guess it all depends on your current tent.

My rear fold literally is tightening the two poles (similar to those in the door of the trackabout in the pic) and banging in 6 pegs, 4 if I'm being lazy.

Why the mats? If it's stony i use a cheap tarp otherwise I just put the tent straight down.

The kids sort out their own swags.
