I am picking up a camper trailer on the Gold Coast and was going to try and get it registered in Tweed Heads before driving it back to Sydney. I understand what the process is but was wondering has anyone done this.

Give Wayne a call, Been in the game best part of 30 years and wont BS you, Think you may need a current weighbridge ticket and NSW gas certificate if it has gas etc installed .

Andy may be able to do your gas certificate for you, he used to work with Wayne years back at a local workshop, before they all went out on their own.

A couple of places to get a weighbridge ticket, roughly $20 from memory

And lastly the Tweed RMS service centre https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/service-centre/tweed-heads-service-centre (https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/service-centre/tweed-heads-service-centre)

Yes. Bought in QLD. Registered in NSW. The previous owner deregistered it in QLD and I drove it back on an unregistered vehicle permit.
If you do it that way you can drive it all the way home to SYD on the permit and the prev owner gets their rego back. And then register it at home as in NSW you are allowed to drive from your house to a testing station whilst unregistered. . You'll need a full inspection including weighbridge certificate to register it in NSW if you are registering an unregistered trailer
Make sense?

Just check the number plate placement and position. NSW only let you have the standard size number plate so I had to fit a new number plate holder move my plate and rewire because the trailer had a square plate originally
