I was over at Koor today picking up a solar controller and got talking to the guys about how they seem to keep on finding good quality gear.
He said - Well you'd better have a look at our new camper out the back. I was not expecting this...
http://www.hardkorrcampers.com.au/ (http://www.hardkorrcampers.com.au/)
I'll post up a few photos from their brochure next.
Some impressive numbers thrown around - price is up there - but all Aussie build and top quality parts supply. VC suspension, all aluminium body, Redarc gear throughout and of course a lighting set up to die for.... 90kg tow ball weight and I'm pretty sure he was talking around 16-1700 kg? Hydrolic lifting mechanism and something like 5-600kg can go on the roof ie fair sized roof topper tinny would not worry it and can be left on when the camper is set up instead of having to swing it away on a separate lifter... 3 minute set up with dual fox wing awnings gives all round shade/shelter option.
Just thought I'd share the news as I was very impressed.

Start price from $60,000 to $80,000.
The price for the extras for the base model are up there. ???
Competition for them would be the Hybrid market.

Looks like they spent a lot of effort getting this right. I like the design. It's a little like the lifestyle recon.
There seems to be a lot of camper forward of the wheels. I wonder what the tow ball weight is.
Unless I missed it there are do weight or size specifications on the site. This is a pet peeve of mine as I find such information essential.

Original post quotes 90 kilo ball weight.

I should read more carefully :-[
That's a really good number, not what I expected from the pics

it looks nice and "hardcore"...
but it's basically a heavier duty, hydraulically lifted Lifestyle Breakaway... at 2.5 times the price right?
I mean, sure, being able to leave a tinny on the roof will appeal to some... but at 60 to 80k...

That'll be with it completely empty.

Yes empty at 90 kg - but a pretty good starting point before you put your jerry cans on.
All the weight is over the axle ( including the batteries x2 & can have 2 stainless water tanks) with the kitchen and fridge at the back balances out the weight of the camper forward of the wheels. Alan, I'm with you re tow ball weights and was the first thing I commented on. He assured me this was a concern of theirs too and was keen to make sure that although for the overall size of the machine they've used the lightweight materials throughout the body to get a good balance/tow ability happening.
Targeting the majority of tow vehicles with a sub 2 tonne total package fully loaded. Prado etc.
As I said - the price is up there - maybe if you need to ask the price you can't afford it?? 8)

maybe with the price so far up there... people might consider an Ultimate, Complete Campsite, Kimberly, Lifestyle, Tvan, Patriot, Drifta or other well established (and proven) brand instead?

This company is more marketing than concept and don't think they have ever had an original idea.
Had a good chuckle after having a good look at there new camper

Interesting first post? Vested interest?

I for one cannot think of a similarly designed camper. Maybe closest would be one of the Lifestyle units - but enough differentiation I believe to be it's own thing. Certainly not a direct dimensional rip off of the Lifestyle designs that some companies have made an art form out of...

I would agree. If you enter this sort of market you need to price similar to the established brands. For that money you can have a Kimberley Karavan. And no matter how good the Korr is, it can't compete with something like the KK.....or CC ??
