Does any one have any current recommendations for suppliers? Seems I can get upgrade kits off Fleebay from as little as $20 for a 55w kit up to more than $150 for what looks like the same kit ???

If you want HID's in your headlights, do it semi-properly....

I was looking at LED upgrades. They were about 80 bucks a pair Just different globes. No ballast and all the rest. Just saying.

Illegal? Well that sux .
Would you do choose LED over HID if they weren't illegal?

Couple of issues I've read on LED -
Overheating and cant fit the factory rubber boot back on the rear or the headlights to stop water/mud etc getting inside and rooting the reflector etc. Th rear of the LED Globes where the cooling fins are is quite big.
But give it time.. :)

Thanks. That's where I made my error. Reading words an' all that

As I understand it, you cannot fit HID head lights to a vehicle unless the manufacturer has already done it to the same model vehicle.
There has to be a series of things completed to get the vehicle past the police and vicroads DMR, etc. without achieving a penalty.
Apparently it's all covered in the ADR's. Some mention of washers (squirters), for the lenses,
Have to be self levelling (not sure if that's just the light itself, or the whole vehicle.)
As for the Driving lights, that's a whole other story.
I know I purchased a pair of LED H1 type globes with intention of fitting to my Hella rotating beacon lights.
The base is correct the first half with the Diodes is ok, but the middle bit is way too big to go through the reflector.
Have to do some alteration to make it work. Or find someone else who wants them more than me.
We need a sympathetic Engineer with access to and understanding of the current ADR Chronicles.
Just as an aside, Last year June 30, was supposed to be the Last day of any approvals for vehicles with modified or non original Engines in vehicles.
Dunno how the Hotrodders are getting on now, Or people like Mark's 4wd adaptors in Dandenong etc.
Be nice to get some credible info.
Just because you can buy 'em in a shop, does Not make 'em legal.

Well apparently in VICTORIA - they are now legal..

Only current info on Vicroads site is regarding LEd light bars and driving lights, mentions nothing about head light upgrades.
