So we take off in two weeks today for our three month trip. http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=41479.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=41479.0)
Whilst we have most of the trip roughly planned I still need some advice for the must sees around Alice, the McDonald ranges and Uluru. We obviously want to see Kings canyon and the rock but what are the other must sees? We will have roughly 10-12 days for that area before we start heading north.
Our rough plan below

The Truck Museum at Alice Springs ,, Top Notch

We spent a fair bit of time going from Yalara to AS.
The Olgas are breathtaking, please go beyond the vallley of the winds walk and continue along the longer walk, you'll climb a hkll and be rewarded with spectacular views.
After Kings Canhon we went the Merenie Loop to Palm Valley, well worth a couple of days stop. Pretty slow drive in but some fantastic scenery awaits. Plenty of brown snakes and mating dingos when we were there in 2014.
West Macs are beautiful, we camped at Ormiston Gorge and used that as a base, do the pound walk, again incredible scenery.
Didn't spend much time in AS itself so can't help there.

The bird show at the wildlife park in Alice springs is well worth it.
The Orminson Gorge walk is great.
Good walk at Trephina Gorge and Ruby Gap well worth the drive out there.

Thanks for the tips guys, defiantly added some places to the must see list. Given the opportunity how would you space 10-12 days out to make the most of the area. Note will have three kids in tow, 10,6 & 3 in a soft floor camper

Spend a night at Rainbow Valley and Devils Marbles, the reptile park at Alice is a great way to waste half a day with the kids. The sunset camel tour at Ayres Rock was worth it also. My kids still talk about it.

Some of our highlights were Trephina George and Finke 4mile which is 5mins drive from Glen Halen Station (good feed). Here is a link to our blog posts. http://www.fealyfamily.com/?s=Glen+Halen&submit=Search
