We are staying up at Lennox head for a week from next Wednesday and my wife and I would like to have a couple of day trips out on the hinterland tracks, taking a picnic lunch.
We have heavily modified 2100 series,
Any suggestions?

I meant 200 Series. I think the 2100 Series is a way off.
Apologies.

You're in a top part of the Country. just down the road from me. The weather outlook for the weekend isn't great with a big low rolling in & a up to 80mm of rain. Anything or anywhere in particular you're looking at seeing or going?

No clue
Have no local maps other than the onboard Herma.
Just a day trip or two would be great.

Out near Nimbin are a couple of nice waterfalls including Terainia Creek falls otherwise known as Protestor Falls it is a nice walk to a great waterhole to swim in below the falls, also Minyon Falls is nice in the same area. After the predicted rain this weekend they should be in full flow.

Nimbin itself is an experience

Option 1Have a look past Minyon falls at Mummery Park, an old logging site, then onto have a look at an small remnant of the Big Scrub and come out on the western side of Rocky creek dam.
Option 2Via Kyogle to the Tweed scenic drive which goes around the edge of the Mt Warning caldera and out through Uki. A good day until a big one.
Option 3
Eltham pub for lunch. A short drive.
Option 4. Go to Nimbin but go via Dunoon, the Channon and Tuntable Creek. Nimbin isn't much in my opinion but at least you can say you have been there.
There are so many road up that way that you can wander around all day.
Hope this info helps. Let us know how you go.

Minyon Falls are great. They are literally right next to the parking area. But if you're up for a walk to the bottom you go back down the hill 500mtr and park in a little picnic area. Walk takes about 40 min down and 1hr back (up the hill). Not too strenuous if you take your time. Bit too cool for a swim (maybe for this time of year - unless you're from Tassie) but beautiful and serene.

as only a local would know mate 8)

Go down to South Ballina, over the Burns Point ferry and turn left.
If the tide is right you can drive the 30ks of beach to Evans head.
No permit required and probably no one on the beach either.

How did you go Keith? A lot of water about in the area, roads flooded / closed all over the place which hamper exploring. It's not usually like this!
