I thought it was worth noting when some great service has been recieved.
The internet seems to have fostered a culture of easy bashing when things are not so great, but excellent examples can pass us buy.
In a day and age where good service seems to be an all too often thing of the past, it is worth noting when it is good.
Hopefully a thread where we can list great businesses that look after their customers will aid those businesses to receive more customers and support our way of life.
I'll go first:
This year I have had great service from ARB Gympie. While I have an ARB bullbar I bought a cheap winch and found the mounting holes would not match up with the control box needing a bracket. I saw ARB Gympie and the owner spent time talking to me about how to solve my problem in mounting the box. He then remembered he had a bracket somewhere and went to find it. It would match the bullbar and could be modified to suit the control box. When I asked what he wanted for it, he told me to take it home and give it a go, no cost! I was able to make it work and the control box is now mounted.
This week I was on the search for an Engel plug adaptor to allow my fridge to plug into a cigarette socket. I had searched the Internet, been to Autobarn and all other 12 volt outlets I could find. It seemed to be a unicorn! I again went to ARB Gympie and explained what I was trying to do. Again he spent time working through what I wanted to achieve. He compared the plug to the ARB fridge plugs and showed me the adaptor end they came with. The was the exact part I needed but was not available separately. Then he remembered he had one from his fridge he didn't need and gave it to me.
This service is why I have bought my twin compressor and will pick up my diff breather kit from there tomorrow.

I have mentioned these businesses recently but I'll happily plug them again for their great service.

These guys have helped me with a lot of work in the last three months getting my truck and camper ready for its Cape Trip. Great service, good work and fair prices. Can't recommend them highly enough. If you are on Brisbane's Northside and need some work give them a call.

We have bought chairs and stretchers from them as we found we were overweight with our normal gear due to all the tools, spares, spare wheels etc we carry. They had the order to us within 24 hours of being placed online. That's how you run an online business.

I have bought some gear from these guys who are in Mount Barker in SA. They have managed to get the orders to Brisbane within 48 hours each time. Fair prices and great service.

Jetcrew here on the forum spent a lot of time talking me through other campers issues with the redarc units and non redarc panels including solutions and possible costs. I ordered three panels and cable from him and they were very prompt. If you need solar give jet a call.

Sarah from Sarah's Canvas products here on the forum has made a lot of items for me. She is checking and questioning before the final design is right for custom work. Her quality is excellent and service is prompt.

Some years ago I happened upon a small canvas workshop in Clyde, Sydney. This was about 2004ish I guess. They made me a roof bag.
Since then I have had various stuff done by them including a complete tent off clean and re water treatment of the camper.
Today I dropped by unannounced to see if I could get a repair done on a wheel cover Danbri made me some years ago. Now i haven't been into this place for about 4 years but as soon as I got out of the car Robert remembered me, remembered my kids (that he met once) and my dog. he remembered what he had done for me and when I showed him my wheel cover he took it from me, walked to his sewing machine and fixed it on the spot.
No amount of begging would compel him to take anything for his time.
He's a top bloke and makes great canvas gear.

I have a fair bit of Oztent gear as I am continually impressed with the quality of their products. Not all of it has been acquired new as I have no issues buying well looked after used stuff due to the quality of the gear. Bought a used Jet tent Bunker sight unseen (apart from photos) and discovered a small hole in the no-seeum mesh. Sent a message to Oztent through their contact us portal on http://www.oztent.com.au/ (http://www.oztent.com.au/) asking what was the best way to repair the hole along with a question about my RV4 being a little hard to open.
Received an email reply a couple of hours later with the advice I needed about the RV4 and a request for my address so that they could send out a repair kit for the Bunker, which duly arrived the following week free of charge.
Excellent company with excellent service.

I have purchased some 12v extras from http://www.home12volt.com.au/ (http://www.home12volt.com.au/) They have some very useful stuff, particularly the 12v control boxes. Makes adding extra 12v outlets a breeze.
If you are in Sydney's west Bell Canvas are very good. http://www.bellcanvas.com.au/ (http://www.bellcanvas.com.au/)
This could be a very good thread to follow. Thanks for starting it.

Smithy's LPG - RACV accredited workshop in Bayswater. Helped me with my gas changeover on the Cruiser. Suspension upgrade, major service and other stuff. Not the cheapest, but the service is excellent. Honest chat. Fair prices. Lots of updates and pics as stuff was being done.
Piranha Offroad - WOW! Did all my electrics (2nd battery, rewire 12v points, UHF install). Just pure quality of workmanship, smiles, great pricing and so much knowledge.
Killa Concepts - Got my roof rack from them. Emailed me twice before shipping and once during to make sure I was aware of delivery dates. Took my noob questions and answered withing minutes. Great product.

Filcar, absolutely agree about Oztent. I went to the Brisbane caravan and camping show 2 years ago and spoke to the owner of Oztent. I have a foxwing and spoke to him about the bag fading and falling apart. I wasn't complaint, just asking how I go about getting a new one. He told me to cut the label off and send it to him (info on his card) include his card and he would send me a new one. When I asked about cost he said it would be free of charge as they had replaced some under warranty. Due to a few house moves I could not prove purchase which they did not worry about.
WHen the new cover arrived it also had a hat in it. Can't beat that for great service!

Plus putting up with me for 4 hours on a wet n crappy day to cut up my old camper tent section, Then sew the pile of jigsaw bits into a usable tent section for the new build light weight hardtop camper .. :cup:
Lets hope Ive measured it all correctly .

A plug for the team at Evacool on the sunny coast. A couple of years ago mice ate the wiring on my fridge. Sent it into them, thy gave it a full rewire, patched a few dings in the vents. Really went above and beyond. Great back up service on a great product.

Just wanted to share a recent experience with HV8 ..
As you know we are planning our Kimberley trip, and after hearing a members friend Callum was working at HV8 this season I thought i would look to support the Myswag members mate and do a trip up that way.
So I emailed the station as I had done with a few others making Inq about tides and times etc ..as a lot of you know I love my Barra fishing. So off go the emails ..well I can tell you I was AMAZED at the way HV8 responded.
First a get a lovely lady who advises me she will get the tours manager to contact me within 24hrs and answer my questions ...sure enough and well within that time TOM gets back to me..answers all my stupid questions and offers excellent advice ..then we go back and forth with emails over the past few days with never longer than 24hrs to respond.
In short I am absolutely amazed :cup: :cup: at the customer service I have been shown by HV8 ..so much so that we are now spending a full week there and I am booking multiple trips with the guys from there.
So if your thinking of doing anything in the region be sure to put these guys on your MUST list. I cant wait to get there.
have even moved a few things around to be there at the right tide times.
To TOM and the HV8..cant wait to get there .....

Not camper/4wd related but good service nonetheless. The band on my FitBit watch had broken (build quality is a completely separate issue) and it was purchased over a year ago from Dick Smith so I went direct to FitBit support. Within 2 days they had promised a replacement and in a week a new watch had been delivered, can't fault their post-sale support.

After having some issues with my top strut bushes last week, massive shout out to Alice and James at Opposite Lock in Longreach. Chased up parts from my original 4wd shop who half did a job to ordering new struts just in case mine were damaged. All fixed today and gave the car a full once over and found a wheel bearing that needed some attention. If your ever in need of mechanical help in Longreach please call in and pay them a visit

Again, off the camper service thread.. Bought a Laser tablet from Dick Smith for the wife a week before last christmas. Anyway the tablet stopped working a couple of weeks ago. (Android software fault). Got on to the Laser website and found that there was a separate section for warranty claims for products sold by Dick Smith. Filled in the details and explained that we no longer had a receipt for the sale as Dick Smith had a policy of emailing sales receipts.. Got a phone call a couple of days later from the service division giving me a repair authority number and asking me to send the tablet down to their workshop. Three days later, had a phone call from the head office saying that they traced the serial number to the sale, and for a cost of $27.00 for return post and insurance they would replace the tablet with a new unit.
Then received another phone call from a guy named Anthony at head office offering to replace the tablet with a new top of the line tablet for an extra $30.00.. Couldn't apologise enough for their tablet failure.. So, for $54.00 total we received the top of the line tablet with the same specifications as my $600.00 Acer tablet. And already loaded with on and off road navigation for the whole of Australia. Whole transaction completed inside two weeks.. Couldn't be happier with the communication and the service. And Laser is an Australian owned company..
Probably speaking out of turn, but the guy said that the Dick Smith closure had cost them close to a million dollars....

Great bush service at both Musgrave and Moreton telegraph stations on the way to the Cape.
My girls asked to put some tour brochures given to us is on TI on the counter at Moreton, the lady thanked them and gave them a free ice block each for going to the effort.
-
We loved moreton telegraph station. Great little stop

Yep, a very welcome hot shower and grass to camp on.

A couple of weeks ago a few 'swaggers spent a weekend at Neurum Ck. The night before we headed off, I checked the tugs auxiliary battery & it was stuffed. I contacted the local auto electrician (Dayboro & Districts Auto Electrics), who is the closest bloke to me for batteries, only to be informed that he didn't have any deep cycle in stock.
He then told me to pop around & he'd give me the battery he'd put into his camper the week before. Even gave me a 2nd hand price. :cup:

I started having issues with my Uniden 8060s UHF not always sending and receiving recently and contacted them last week, they told me to do a full reset on the unit which I did to no avail. They then told me a Reply paid address and I sent it off last Monday afternoon. Could not believe it when I had a parcel pickup today from them with a brand new unit! I know it was well within the 5yr warranty period but it was super fast service and no mucking around. Very happy with Uniden.

Great result and back up by uniden.

Great service from Zordo
Had the truck in for a service and they said my caster correction bushes were stuffed. I don't have the gear to pull it apart to check so thought I would go to see Zordo (where I got my suspension from) and he checked them - all ok. Think mechanic was hunting for extras.
While I was there I asked him to check why the truck was 25mm down on on side. He explained that probably the dual battery was the culprit so he swapped the front springs over (drivers side is longer than passenger) and now all sweet.
No charge for his work either.
Top bloke, top service

Wouldn't go anywhere else now. My mate drove up from Tamworth (600K's) to get his Nav done by John and was happy as a pig in poo.

I originally posted this on it's own. But it's worth being here too...
I just wanted to put this out there ok...
I inherited a McHitch with the half an 80 series trailer. For the last year or so... it's been fine.
But the weekend before last, due 100% to user error, I broke off one of the little aligning tabs on the bottom of the hitch "head" unit.
Bugger I thought...
Come Monday morning, jumped online and emailed McHitch. Got an answer back from Joe within minutes.
I asked if the part was available and could I fit it myself. Joe said that he preferred to do the re-builds himself and seeing that they were based in Lithgow, I took a Saturday morning drive out there from the Blue Mountains.
Joe said to come back in an hour. We took the puppy round the corner to the dog park for an hour.
Came back to pick it up...
Joe has totally re-built it. Replaced all pins, grease nipple, head unit and ...
painted it and replaced the McHitch sticker on top.
And all of this for $50
fifty... dollars.
A lot of business people won't get up to scratch their ass for $50.
And Joe totally re-built my 2nd hand McHitch and painted it.

Shame it doesn't seem go as far by the jungle drums as bad service.

Not sure it's appropriate here, but I ordered some gear off the net from liteshop.com.au....torches chargers, batteries as xmas presents for family. Anyway, ordered on Wednesday, arrived at my work on Thursday afternoon.... I kid you not.
Now I know the business is based in Sydney as is my work....but the stars must haves aligned for this to have happened. Anyway... I have no affiliation but have n ver had anything but good service from this business.

Shout out for Powerbulbs.com
Ordered some Phillips X-treme Vision +1305 H4's from them in April. Not only was the price about half of anything locally, shipping from the UK was free, and the bulbs arrived here within 2 weeks. But wait, that's not all.. it comes with a free 1-year warranty.. which I got to test this month... emailed them a photo of the bulb with the broken filament, and 2 weeks later 2 new bulbs are in my hand, free of charge, no questions, no haggles.. just good customer service.

Popped into Tyre Power to book in for a balance, rotation and alignment yesterday. The owner looked at my tyres and and told me he wouldn't take my money off me, they were wearing really well and didn't need doing yet.
I often stop in and check them with him and have always extended the life of my tyres. It's nice to get good advice that is not money driven.

We bought a Jet Bunker XL a few weeks ago. A great product IMO.
The first time we packed it up, the stitching on the bag let go on one corner.
(It looked to me like one side of the material hadn't been fully engaged in the seam)
Contacted OzTent. They said to send it back to them for an assessment (at their expense).
A week later, a new bag arrived in the post.
Very happy.... :cup: :cup:

I have had similar service from Oztnt. Great D any wh back their products.

Sydney Suspension at Penrith: Champions
Trying to locate a replacement shock for my camper was more difficult than I had imagined. First company I dealt with, despite me providing all the info required and pictures, sent me a wrong size shock. I returned it and got a refund. I next went to Pedders, which was the manufacturer of the original shock. Despite having the same part numbered shock in stock, it appears the trailer manufacturer had a slightly modified version made for them. From what I could tell, just a different bush on the bottom. The lovely lady behind the counter was of the view that the current production shocks couldn't be re-bushed, but come back another day when joe blow who has worked in R&D is here and he will give you a definitive answer. Not feeling confident, I moved on.
I go to Sydney Suspension and what a breath of fresh air. Dean, is the chap I'm dealing with and he actually took an interest in getting me sorted ... not just selling me something. First thing, he didn't slag off his competitors .. said the Pedders shock was a good one.
He asked me about the trailer and what I was going to be doing with it. He then sent me away and got me to take some measurements for him, including the distance from the pivot point of the suspension to the mounting point of the shock. Apparently this is important for what valving is used in the shock. (Learn something new every day).
He wanted a second look at the old shock to compare with what he ultimately source for me and offered to reverse courier the shock to him. I didn't take him up on the offer ... but still worth mentioning. Getting the correct bush, requires getting it made. He's let me know that this is happening as I type in Qld and will be couriered down on Monday.
Throughout this process he has been in and out of work dealing with a stomach ulcer. That said, I've been kept informed throughout the process and he even offer to come open the shop up on a Saturday form me if that was more convenient for me at one point.
Should get the shocks next week.
I have no affiliation at all ... just super impressed with the level of service. You know when you just get a sense that someone is doing the right thing and is on top of their game. That's how I feel.
For the effort that has been put in, at the end of the day, they won't be making truck loads of money out of me but I do hope that this posts sends some work their way because they certainly deserve it.

1. Walked into MDC Brisbane yesterday with one weeping shock absorber.
'Very sorry Sir, we have changed to a different shock for your model - here, have four with our compliments'.
Wow.
2. The importer for the Country Comfort HWS was on the MDC owner's forum the other night, asking how everything is. I piped up and said I wanted a longer shower hose and a shower head with an easier to use switch. The owner was overseas but sent their mobile number at 8.00 p.m. and did the deal right then and there - $18 delivered to my door in 3 days.
Boom.

Piranha Offroad - Dorset Rd Bayswater (http://www.piranhaoffroad.com.au/)
Second time they have saved a weekend for me...
Recently had some work done on the car ready for weekend away somewhere else.
Anyway after the nanna and air cond issue, I was heading off noticed my battery monitor said second batt was right down.. Couldn't see anything wrong so last resort thought the dual battery gig might have lunched itself.
It was late in the day and I thought I was pushing my luck, but pulled in there and explained the situation, and the guys there were straight into it. No questions asked.
45mins later after pulling the system apart and testing everything he pin pointed an earth issue - and he was right.. Captain Fukstain who worked on the car the week before hadn't bolted the earth strap back on.
So we bolted it back up,. retested and ;D ;D ;D.
I asked how much and the bloke said ' no charge'... :cup: :cup:
They may not be the cheapest system on earth but they work + with service like that, I'm happy to pay up.
-
You'll need to sit down for this.
BUT
Beleive it or not!
I can give compliments to telstra, for great service.
Sadly I lost my Dad, unexpectedly, he had a new phone and interweb contract, 6 months old. I went into the shop to ask what needs to be done, they gave a form to fill in, and an envelope etc and details to send it to.
In next to not time they have given a reply saying the contract is cancelled and final bill on the way. Also, I can reuse his phone and so on for one of my kids etc.
Out of all the stuff needed to be done when sorting a deceased estate these guys are the easiest to deal with by far.
-
Hi,
After a reversing incident that cracked some fibreglass, it was obvious that a reversing camera would have prevented the damage.
A bit of research and a phone call outlining my needs, and a bit more research and I ordered a pair of cameras and a monitor from Saftey Dave on Friday after noon.
Stone the crows! It arrived on Monday from Melbourne.
Good Service!
Opening the package and preparing for a bench test, I noticed one of the plugs had a bent pin. Now I was happy to try and straighten it but thought I should ring and let them know.
No way!
They would send out a replacement straight away, and I could keep the bent one as a spare.
It arrived the next day!
Now that is good service.
cheers

Massive thanks to Black Diamond for getting the wife's car back on the road yesterday. With a call to him on the weekend he had all parts needed in a day and got it all together and back in the road with minimal fuss.
Anyone wanting mechanical or tyres for their vehicle in Melbourne or trailer should get in contact with BD

Big thank you to the guys at Blingwork Automotive Lighting in Clayton. Purchased an LED headlight upgrade and rang them because I couldn't install it. As it turned out I had the wrong size (my fault not theirs) so they asked if I could come back to the showroom. They had a look, realised the problem and installed the gear for me at no charge. Secured the LED drivers with double sided tape and cable ties and tidied everything up when they finished. They weren't the cheapest around but the customer service was exceptional. Thanks guys.
