Happy with it? Does it work ok? software is stable and not glitchy? screen hi-res enough? if you had to do it again would you change to something else?

Just your general comments on it as a bush touring tool.

I am happy with it.
Does what I need it to. It does reboot/crash occasionally.
Screen has good resolution.
Prior to the android version I ran the windows ce version on a hacked gps I think that it had slightly better functionality. See if you can run the ce version on a windows tablet prior to committing to a galaxy tab.

I am still running ozi on my original Motorola Zoom. If that can ahndle it I am sure a new Samsung would piss it in.

Question for anyone running a tablet for navigation.

How's your battery life?

I sometimes use a GPS app on my smartphone, & a half-day trip will just about kill the battery, even with the phone plugged in to charge the whole time  :'( Apparently, phone's aren't intended to have the screen turned on continually & it's the display that eat's battery power.

Good, disconnected from the charger it will last about 6 hrs, connected it doesn't drop below 100 %

Same as two up, much better than my phone. Even the old Motorola which is about 5 years old will do three hours or more. We only run it when off road and if we are running for longer than that just plug it into 12 volt power.
