Title: Black Widow Drawers
Post by: MrCruza on May 16, 2016, 02:26:26 PM
Confirming the the manufacturers of Black Widow drawers are back in the business of making storage systems, trading as RV Storage Solutions.
This is not a Phoenix, the old Black Widow was wound up by the banks. It's a new venture.

No prices up on the new site.

However, I'm worried that the story about why Black Widow shut has a reference to a debt to service ratio breach. This is a fundamental of running a business.

Either they get a new CFO, educate themselves why debt to service ratio matters, or else I fear the same thing could happen to them again.

Also, the parting shot at TJM is interesting, even though they then have TJM as a listed distributor.

You'd certainly not pay up front or even give a deposit!!!

So Black widow is no longer & have re opened as RV Trade Solutions still in New Gisborne but a smaller location.
Not sure the full story but I do know that Jason the son  owns TJM Sunbury & has bought the blackwidow name & currently the drawers are being remade by Schivello in Tullamarine, but they will then be made overseas.

The 'Black Widow What Happened' page makes for interesting reading, specifically this '2012 onwards saw the beginnings of the end when countless Chinese products flooded our market and our then largest customer ARB, decided to also use the Chinese made product. We could no longer effectively compete at the size we had grown to. Our products were being copied left, right and centre.'

My understanding is ARB corp backed/stocked 4WD Interiors 'Outback' drawers. ARB and 4WD Interiors did a deal on an upgrade version/brand name and now sell that as ARB own brand...

Yes.
Outback drawers are still made right here in Cairns.
I have a set and they are still going strong after 9 + years.

I was talking to sale staff at TJM Mackay this morning and they said TJM has taken over Black Widow products.
