When not travelling I use my Waceo fridge to store my spare drinks in, had a power outage a day ago -- The dam Waceo has frozen and stuffed my spare drink supply. , I can't drink frozen beer,
NOT HAPPY >:(
If my Waceo fridge ever looses power, when the power comes back, it just about always resets itself to it's max freeze temp which is not good -- NEVER never again a Waceo, this also sometimes happens when unplugging and plugging the fridge back in from moving it from the 4wd to the house.
-
I have a CFX40 and it always recalls the last setting whether it's a minute or months withour power.
Cheers,
Salty.
-
I have an older cf35 and don't have that issue, it comes on at the last preset temp, might be an issue with it?
-
Never been an issue with my Waeco either.
-
Mine recalls last setting. Yours is possessed!
-
Cfx 50 same as other members in that it recalls last temp..sometimes its months between uses
-
My two are fine......and that's because I bought Engel's >:D >:D >:D
-
I'll happily swap you for my ARB fridge.
I prefer my other two Waeco's any day and a third would make my day.

Only ever heard good things about Engel's, Waeco's are a whole other story.
-
Whilst having no issues with my waeco, i would have loved an engel. The old man's got one that would have to be over 35 years old, still on original cord and fuse and its never missed a beat. When buying mine the engels were too overpriced for our budget.
Is yours the dual zone..as in fridge and freezer..maybe that's causing issues with the temp resetting??
-
You haven't by chance switched to "emergency override"? Which means it runs non stop and ignores the thermostat.

Your saying his disappointment is based on operator error.
Cut that out, Bird is after it.

If ya interested in swapping for a Engel 40 with cover etc let me know :)

Not happy with the ARB one Mr Man.
I haven't had ours that long but it seems ok.

had a fridge technician in and his pick was waeco any day of the week
one thing he did tell me about waeco to get the working a bit better
on the side of the waeco is two air vents get the die grinder out and make them bigger to allow better air flow
and something about open up to get inside and put a small fan above one of the circuit boards? next time i see him i will ask again what was the exact mod
Adam
ps.remember today its thirsty thursday

That's because he wouldn't make any money if everyone owned Engel's :cup: :cup:

Its really not difficult, checking the temp on a waeco is no different than adjusting the knob on an engel although easier.

No it's was not switched to "emergency override" it was actually running O.K. for 2 weeks, till the power outage ,, dodgy Darwin power --
The fridge is a bit over 2 years old, it's had this problem before, but I blamed the kids before as they had a party and used it for "their" beer fridge -- but it's happen again twice, and I have tested myself by switching the power off for an hour and yes the fridge does have a issue. (Still blame the kids though >:D )
Someone was asking was it a dual zone -- yes it is dual zone.. I purchased the fridge from BCF and I have now lost the receipt, as it should still be under warranty.. I will have to workout how to get it fixed

If you paid for it on card you should be able to look up the date you purchased it and they should then be able to locate the transaction on their computer, might take a day or two to be able to get the right person to have the time to locate it but I have done it before with other major retailers.
note the transaction date on a statment will likely be a a day or so after actual purchase date.
-
I have the dual zone 60 litre. Every time I loose power, it resets to max temp, I.e 49 degrees. If I power down using the on/off switch, it remembers last temp setting.

Do it like that regularly. Download your statement dump it into excel and search bcf.

I guess you mean -49 degrees where it freezes everything? -- and yes mine does retain all it's setting if powered down by the off/on switch

Does this happen when 12v power is lost or only 240v or either?
That's never happened with my old CF50. It remembers the old setting from whenever it was last used regardless of how power was lost or how long it was powered down.
-
It happens when either 12v or 240v is lost, so one does have to make sure that the 12v is properly plugged in.
There is a nice feature with the fridge and that is it can be plugged into both 240V and 12V at the same time, and it will only switch to 12v when the 240V is lost, and this part of the fridge does work well, great when it's on generator power, then when generator power is cut it's back to 12V.

Have you talked to Waeco yet?
-
Not yet -- I still have to work out how to talk with them , when I get the time.

in another thread (maybe on pradopoint) everyone has said the same thing - some have this issue, some don't - it seems to come down to the controllers not liking the voltage dropping below 12 volts momentarily (more so in warm weather) and I know both of our CFX fridges have done this - they are supposed to drop into fault mode but if the battery recovers too quickly when the fridge stops on low voltage then you have the issue particularly with deep cycle (in my experience - with a cranking battery it just dropped into 'fault' mode and stayed there). one unhappy customer took theirs to the right repair place who said it was a 'known' issue with the controllers and can be covered by the warranty but I would guess you have to get the right repair centre as I have heard of several unhappy repair experiences with regards this issue. waeco have more recently brought out a 'recommended optional extra' which shuts down the fridge if the battery voltage drops too low but as far as I am concerned they are supposed to do that anyway

No +49 degrees, ie never turns on at all.
I think max minimum temp is -29

Hi Slydar,
Umm yeah my fridge was on 240V at the time -- no 12V as it was out of my vehicle at the time -- the fault happened due to a power outage to our house, so I guess the dropped to zero at the time and back to 240V about 46 minutes later ;)
-
thanks, I remember reading that now - apparently one check as per the prado forum (and I don't know how you do it on 240) is to monitor the current draw, if it increases while the compressor is running then yr controller is bad. not sure about this one though as theyre all 'soft start' compressor motors i.e. they don't just dump the full power into the motor at start-up but increase it in three 'steps' - this is supposed to limit the current drain on startup and stop the battery voltage dropping too far and tripping the low-voltage cutout but the current draw will increase over the three stages whether we like it or not and I have noticed all of ours will drop out at the third 'step' and try again after about half a minute if the battery is getting down

Not happy with my Engel. Stopped working the other day. Took it to the local repair place and asked about a warranty repair. Should have seen the look on his face. It is one of the old ones with the yellow case and green lid. He recons it is about 40 years old and the warranty has run out. On a more serious note he says the electronics board is stuffed and cannot be repaired. bazt
-
The electronics in the old Engels was fairly simple and should be able to be fixed at component level. Not like modern throw away stuff.
Suggest asking local electronics repair place or someone with hobby level electronics knowledge.

A quick call to Waeco repairer will have your answer....waste of good beer!
