Was wondering if any swaggers have installed or maybe used one of these:

Looking to try and eliminate, or at least reduce, the throttle lag in my 200 series. Would be interested to hear any feedback.

These devices do nothing more than amplify the signal input of your right foot to a higher value (which is normally found deeper on the peddle travel anyway). In fact, just by applying a bit more of the loud pedal will achieve the exact same result. These devices are a bit like hiclones, a scam.

The one thing I don't have a problem with is more right foot KB ;D What I do have a problem with is throttle lag from a standing start. Traffic lights aren't a problem as I'm not racing, however on a roundabout with traffic coming, I think I have plenty of time and room to go onto the roundabout, drop the right foot and .................... nothing.................only for the truck to then say, "so you want to go............now!" and my eyes get really big as I see a semi bearing down on me!! What I'm looking for is something to remove that lag from a standing start. What bothers me is I will get to the stage where I will start to compensate for the lag and that is when the damn thing will take off straight into another vehicle!

I have the same problem occur. And I've wondered the same thing as you re plug n go.

Try driving a 1hz, lag from beginning to end!

Same thing in my 200 Series and I think it's turbo lag. By feathering the throttle to get the revs up a little and then flooring it, it seems to pull away smoothly.

Have done the same thing KeithB, and it works, but the question still remains, why should I have to do that with a new vehicle? I have a 20 year old 3 door Mirage, 1.6ltr, that is quicker off the mark than my 2015 V8 turbo diesel 200 series!!! My point is, I shouldn't need to feather the throttle to ensure I can pull away safely - I should be able to just drive my vehicle. In every other respect I LOVE my 200. So deviating a bit from my original post, are there any swaggers who have overcome this with any other technology?? And a big thanks to those who have responded so far :D

I have a 20 year old 3 door Mirage, 1.6ltr, that is quicker off the mark than my 2015 V8 turbo diesel 200 series!!!
l suppose the Mirage is about 2000 + kg on the road , running big off road tyres & geared down for grunt ??? ??? Our Mirage of about the same age dosent has the aerodynamics of 2 house bricks either :cheers:

I have one of the Plug n go units me I reckon it's great, the difference it made was fantastic , all I can say is don't judge them before you try it, it has taken out that bit of lag and makes it far more responsive to drive , probably one of the best mods I have done to my car, sure these things "amplify the signal" but in doing so they give you more throttle control and are adjustable to suit individual requirements. It made my Hilux more responsive off the line after I increased my tyres size. If you are hesitant to pay that much for the plug n go by a wind booster unit, these are a lot cheaper, do the same thing as the plug n go but have less "modes " to choose from, plug n go has 9modes , wind booster has 3 I think .

probably find it's closer to 3t, and yeah I thought the same thing....it's a big rig to get moving versus a little Mirage.

I do agree they are asking a bit much now for them, I got my unit for an introductory price of around $220, there is always the alternatives like the wind booster which do the same thing and are cheaper....

Mine only has a lag until the boost comes in, then the boost diaphragm give more go go juice on the pump.

A quiality aftermarket exhaust will reduce lag too.

My mate has one in his 2012 79series ute, he raves about. Obviously no more power but the throttle responds much quicker.

So, went and bought one and am really happy with it. Response is so much better now - it is a different vehicle to drive now. Couldn't be happier with it. ;D
