Title: Anyone going to Bigriggen Park this weekend? Give it a miss for now!!!!
Post by: DaveR on April 28, 2016, 03:28:07 PM
Just checking if anyone heading there or not?
I'm leaving home tomorrow before lunch to go out get a spot, then back to collect the tribe after school. Yep, I know, double trips, but, I get 1 of these  in my hand when I get back and not have to worry about setting up.
Here is the link for anyone who may not know it, nice family friendly place.

I was planning the same thing - then life happened. We're all going down tomorrow now. We'll have four other families with us. We'll arrive about lunch time. We're tenting and will be in a white Captiva with a grey trailer. Drop over and say "Hi"! Make sure you have a  in your hand  ;D

Cool, will go for a ride and look about.
I'll be aiming for in the gate and to the left somewhere as it is close to the kids bike tracks.

Here is what we look like set up.

Wow Dave, that place is busy this weekend...cruised down there for a look earlier, but didn't venture past the entrance gate. If you want to escape the crowds then come have a beer with us this arvo, there's only one other site taken here and they are about 100mtrs away behind a line of trees.

Nothing exciting. Was robbed in beaudesert maccas. Left my wallet on a table and some local kids made of with it. Lost about $350.

Yep, got the wallet back, can you believe they did it in front of me and bolted when they saw me looking for my wallet. Took the cash out, and dumped it under the play equipment outside, where i was sitting.
Then they stashed the $ in the hedge outside and shot through.
I rounded them up down the street and they proved to me they had nothing on them....
Lil' Pharkers were well rehearsed at it.
Beaudesert coppers, legends, went into the MacCrappers, got the footage, found the hedge and got some of the $, but not all.
Better then nothing.

I was gonna call in today Mal, but the kids were off the scale in the sook-O-meter, Decided to not tourcher anyone else with them.....

Gonna give this place a miss now, they have jacked the max head count up from 800 to 1500, it is out of hand now.

Good bit is I got to have a beer with a fellow swagger, now that is a 1st for me in a camp site. He even introduced my 7 yr twins to an Aussie Rules game.

Yeah I was keen to have a revisit there as it's been a long time since we last stayed at Bigriggen, but that crowd we saw has me in no hurry to return back there. I didn't want to deal with that crowd on Sunday searching for you as I had 2 other cars with me, so we turned around at the front gate and had a look at the numbers at Flannagans and Mt Barney Lodge before returning back to our camp.

should have joined us mate...we didn't have it to ourselves like you did, but there was only 4 camps there (including ours in that lot) on Saturday night and ours and one other on the Sunday night. Apparently they are only going to let previous campers stay there from now on the owners told us, they are restricting who camps there. A shame there's no creek running through the place, but the lack of other crowds makes up for it.

Yeah, I had about an hour conversation with Lou and she said that the camping was only really a small thing and they didn't want to grow it at all. The cafe is their baby.

Dogs out there as well, Dave? (& yes, there's usually a few 2-legged ones round, but I meant the furry, noisy 4-legged variety!)

the upside for them of Nigriggen being packed, was that plenty of people came there for a feed. They reckon Mothers Day they'll do 300 meals, so why would you bother putting up with grubs destroying your property for camping...Rod told a few campers at the cafe to come back and clean their mess from the camp next to us, also told them put out the fire they left burning also.

Flanagan's was good, no where near the numbers Big's gets, even though it was still busy being a long weekend we had our 12wk old with us and didn't have a problem, we even got an express pass into the shower from the owners being with an infant!

The last time we were at Bigriggen was Easter 2012 and it was just as bad then, swore after that we'd never go back.
