Title: Bloody kids
Post by: jetcrew on April 18, 2016, 07:42:07 PM
My 18yo who i lent my lap top to to apply for jobs and stuff until i wanted it back for my trip has decided to install windows 10 over the 7 I liked some time ago .  >:D >:D >:D

now Mr "i,m a genius and know everything cant recover the windows 7 as the 10 wipes it out ...

can anyone lend a quick solution to get rid of this windows 10 stuff.

We have 7 at home and wife an I are familar with it so preffer it for our basic needs.

Kids hey ...

Stick with 10, it's pretty close to 7, give it a couple of days and you'll be fine.

The only way to remove the nightmare is to reinstall windows 7... but backup anything you want to keep reinstalling 7 will wipe out everything.

Only takes hour or so.

Get an iPad and a wireless hard drive!

Then you can use it for maps whilst you travel and keep all the other info on the hard drive. I can connect up to 4 devices off my 2TB H/D.  ;D

It's pretty simple to wind it back to 7. My it guy walked me through it but was pretty easy
Where I fell down was I installed Bitlocker onto my external hard drive after installing windows 10 and when I took it back to 7 it wiped all my codes off so the computer would not recognise the hard drive
Too a week to get fixed

Mate, stick with 10. You'll have to get to know it eventually..

Install Classic Shell (http://www.classicshell.net/) to make life easier. It basically gives you back a Windows 7 style start button.

I'm running 10 and can't see what the fuss is about. I quite like it. Just press the Windows key on your keyboard and type the name of the program you want (eg word) and it will pop up. Click it and away you go. Quicker than a start menu

Once a program is open just right click and 'pin to task bar' and it will be there next time.

Bloody kids! You just need to be more flexible and understanding in your outlook old boy-

Do keep up or you'll go the way of the dinosaurs

Personally when I reach a trigger point with these self-identifying adults and need a safe space I reckon it's time to hit the road again

Yeah well when I was young they kept telling me the meek shall inherit the earth but that didn't exactly gel out there in the playground.
Still, you never know the approach might work on those ISIS types- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ienp4J3pW7U (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ienp4J3pW7U)

OTOH I give up ISIS, you win. Now about all those virgins we're promised....?

Always in the fine print I say ...

It does not actually say the gender of those Virgins in the book ..

I'd be looking for some guarantees before I signed up lol

Me and 40 blokes in a room with candles does not seem that exciting .. But hey I am pretty fussy  :D :D

Jet ;D

And add on to that the behaviour that's permitted in their book of rules.
Including animals, and children who haven't managed puberty yet.
The rest of the civilized world view this as criminal or perverted activity that will get you segregated and reviled.

I have Dos 2.0 on single sided 5 and a quarters if you like.  Runs windows 2 or at a pinch 3.1

Don't let your son try to upgrade to 3.11 with the above or you'll spend the rest of your life looking for a cpu with the built in maths co-processor.

Hang on I think I was that son. ......

If you do go to 3.11 make sure your PC has got a Turbo button.

Stuff the micro$oft bloatware, it hasn't got soft in the name for nothing...
Get yourself a copy of Linux Mint and you're laughing. Even on a 10 year old laptop....

Nope, but it's a damn sight easier than struggling with something that either doesn't work, or when it does, it gets updated and is broken again. If you don't need to use programs that will only run on a windoze box, and there are plenty of Linux alternatives these days, then do yourself a favour...  ;D

I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years (or sooner) when Microsoft withdraws support for 7, it's time for you to upgrade and you have questions he will have a long memory and be able to get a bit of his own back.
