Title: Doberman Puppy
Post by: tracker on March 30, 2016, 04:27:00 PM
G'day all,
I could be in the wrong place here .....Buy here i go....
After losing both my dog's fairly recently and the pain has subsided a little and a far amount of pressure from ...You Know Who !!...I'm concidering looking for another dog...and was just wondering if anyone out there in Swaggersville knows of any breeders of Dobermans that breed and sell.....I would prefer a pure breed .....but not necessarily with papers as were not into showing the dog or breeding...just love the breed.....Any help here would be appreciated..
                       Cheers Tracker.

Ohhhhhh!!!!.......Black and Tan....    and female also

Those pups are cute when they're all wrinkly and small.
They don't stay that way for long.

Hi Tracker,

Our Dobermann is nearly 5 and is an awesome dog.  We got ours without papers from a guy in Brisbane.  They had two red ones which my wife liked however ended up with a black and tan, he also had black on is feet which was different to the others.  It is amazing how many we see or people who come up to us and say they had one when they were younger.  A lot of people though are still scared of them and think they are a dangerous dog.

One concern with ours is he gets head wobbles or bobbing.  Google 'Doberman head bobbing' and you will find some info.  We spoke to some local breeders who pretty much talked down to us saying we should have bought through a breeder etc etc and we wouldn't have any problems.  Just something to be aware of.  Scared the crap out of us the first time.  Vet says not to worry about it.  Ours hasn't grown out of it though.  We are pretty used to it now.

With respect to breeders have a look at these  https://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/breeders/dobermann.asp (https://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/breeders/dobermann.asp)

Cheers

                                          Cheers Tracker.

Cheers Tracker, didn't realise you had one previously.

Good luck with the search.  They are starting to become more popular now, even with a tail.

I assume your old one had it's tail docked?

Cheers

We lost both our Dobes just over twelve months ago. One to cancer and the other to wobblers disease. Both very common problems in Dobes. They were lovely dogs and are very missed. I'd be careful who I purchased o Doberman from if we were ever to get another. They are prone to lots of genetic problems and you'll minimise the chances of these if you buy from a reputable registered breeder. Good luck on your search. They are an amazing and very misunderstood dog.

Watch This Space.

After a lot of looking around it looks like the boss has found a litter we can look at in about 2 weeks  .... We decided to for go the ANZAC camping trip to Carmilla Beach and travel down Gympie way to pick up the new Doberman ....Looks like we will base our trip around Tin Can bay / Rainbow Beach area. The breeder say's she is only about 45 mins. away from Tin Can Bay. Now i'm really looking forward to the Anzac weekend.  We will leave Mackay on Friday 22 nd.

                                                             Cheers Tracker.

Tracker....my advice through experience....there are some breeder's websites that really look & sound like honey....but the reality may be completely different.
If you have kids involved in choosing a breeder......this can add to pressure to buy from a breeder which " has the nicest pics or whatever ".
Don't want to burst your bubble mate, but certain breeders calling puppies Mr Blue, Mr Black, Mr Brown etc with cute pics looks nice, but if something doesn't quite sound right....the it probably isn't.

My first Doberman was a fantastic family dog...but the second was a nightmare.

All the best to you.....a good relaxed temperament is the key.
Cheers
Rob

Looking around at dogs, I cant believe the price of some of them.. My olds used to breed British Bullterriers as show dogs... and remember what they sold for.... but some breeds are 1000-2500 for 1 ****in pup??? that would last me 2 years at the daily planet.

They are an amazing and very misunderstood dog.

Agree they are great dog, but owners from years ago are the reason they're misunderstood.  Cropping ears and docking tails make them look extremely intimidating to someone who doesn't know the breed.

Tails are the greatest visual indicator of a dogs mood. I love seeing Dobermans now with floppy ears and a wagging tail.

Here, here to the above. Both our boys had tails that wagged non stop and soft floppy ears. So much nicer than docked and cropped.

Not wrong mate, been on the lookout for a cattle dog pup, gone are the $50 dime a dozen cattle pups, those ones are extinct now.

She's a nice looking pup tracker, first time I've seen a Doberman puppy

Probably my 2 favourite girls  ....my granddaughter on her birthday (  to-day ) and Ochre the doberman pup at about 4 months
