Title: Ego electric chainsaw inverter charging
Post by: feisty on February 29, 2016, 10:58:51 AM
Was wondering what size inverter is required to run the charger.
Spoke to a tech from ego today and was told 250w minimum.

Thought others might benefit from this info.

I have the fast charger plus the big 4 AH battery and use a 1000 watt inverter, which I think us a lot bigger than required plus I always charge with the engine running.
4 AH at 56 Volts = 215 watt hours
In a half hour charge that's 430 watts. Allow for 20% losses and you get about 600 watts. If you have the small battery and slow charger 250 watts might work fine.
Hope this makes sense.

I've got 2 of the standard batteries and the standard charger. In the car I've got  600 watt inverter and that charges the batteries from flat to fully charged in about 25 minutes when driving

The chainsaws are sh1t hot too  :cup:

Yep have a 600w projecta psw but thought it was worth confirming.  Havent done a lot of work with it yet but will be great for national parks and after hours work.

So I took it away this weekend and reckon I need another battery. I only have the standard 2 ah.
15% off at master stores via Ebay till midnight tonight. 4 ah or another 2 ah battery.
Thoughts? Will likely go the 4 ah.

If you want some more run time without charging how about the Husqvarna battery backpack rated for commercial use!

Thanks. Will do some research.  Fell asleep last night and missed the  15% off so not in  huge rush now.

(If in Qld) - don't forget to cross check what the Ego prices are at Trade Tools Direct..

I just picked up a Line Trimmer Skin for  $149...   (Previous model though), everyone's out of stock for the (brushless) $239 current model...

I am hoping to only need to use this thing maybe 20 times before my rear yards become a Small Lot development. ...   so am happy to save some coin...

Plus the mover man charges me $60 per sweep....   so no worries. .. come on the blood sweat and beers....

Thanks for the tip. Too late though. Almost bought the mower for 550 with 4 ah battery. Battery by itself was 230. Reviews were OK but those that were negative appeared to know what they were talking about. So just bought the battery.

Nah....  I have the mower and 4ahr battery. ...   the thing is brilliant. ...   going for approx 30-40 min chopping down horrible grass approx 15cm-25cm-35cmH ...   really nasty stuff; with 100mm+/- rocks strewn about everywhere. ..   all of this work done on probably a 20-30 degree sloping double back yard..     Have to finish off with the 2ahr batt; (courtesy of the Ego chainsaw)....
