Title: Snake bites
Post by: achjimmy on February 15, 2016, 02:09:21 PM
With the very sad news today of the 6yo dying as a result of a brown. It prompted me to pull my finger out and check that my first aid kit was up to scratch.

Found an article talking about these setopress bandages specifically for venomous bites.  Wondering people's thoughts?

No affiliation

Good article discusses gaiters too

Used to be a good document floating around in regards to treating bites.

$15 is expensive for a single bandage.
For snake bite an elastic bandage is used, not mere crepe.   However standard elastic bandages are only a couple of dollars.

I recently bought a stack of these for the Prado, house, camper, camelback. I believe this type is preferred as it is a firmer and wider than standard cream crepe bandages.

Good vid and explanation thanks. So I guess the fancy bandage isn't necessary but probably can't hurt either?  I was just intrigued cause I know my son has these bandages in the army that are used for major wounds and you turn the padding or something and it exerts the correct pressure.
