Title: Tarp joiners
Post by: edz on February 09, 2016, 11:07:21 PM
Surfing the tube and found this DIY on tarp joiners .. Thought it might be easier cheaper stronger way for people to clip on tempory weather / shade tarps to awnings and other uses etc .. he uses  poly pipe but PVC storm water pipe or electrical conduit would work the same https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq9svSKaB9c (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq9svSKaB9c)
Might look at fitting a version of this style fastener  instead of velcro to hold the bed end side walls to the bed frame of my jayco style camper build.

Thanks Edz, interesting idea  :cup:

If you were constantly clipping the 2 pipes together in one spot, wouldn't that finish up wearing a hole in the tarp though? Or were you planning a permanent connection?

I have a vinyl sail tracked bed base attachment strip on my tent section [ reusing my old side fold tent section ] the vinyl should be able to take many many years of being clipped to the new campers bed base in this way [ only down side is carrying the 6 bits of clip in poly  tube sections ] .. If it did ever a wear hole in one spot, a small bit of vinyl repair tape either side of it would fix it easy enough.. be cheaper than having to replace two worn out Velcro strips ..
Cant fit it permanantly as the bed bases slide in / out ..
Im thinking for us, this is a more positive way of fitting and a lot easier / cheaper than having to have a trimmer alter my tent sections .
Still a bit more thinking to do on it yet though .

How would this hold up in any breeze?  I'm thinking not too well.
