Title: Are Patriot still in business?
Post by: WCN_Bren on February 08, 2016, 07:07:07 AM
Like most of you, it's hard to stop during the day to call a Camper Trailer company about specs on one of their products and by the time I remember to do it they are closed anyway. So i email and / or facebook them.

I'm very interested in an X1 from Patriot  but after filling in their enquiry form a couple times and trying to contact them via facebook i still havent heard from anyone. Is this a sign of what after sales customer service will be like or an i reading too much in to it?

I don't know if they are around or not. But if I want something from a supplier if I don't have a solid email address I will generally ring then as well. Certainly wouldn't contact anybody by stalk book

Im pretty sure they are still kicking considering they just won, again, camper trailer of the year award in their price range. They seem to have grown their business quite quickly over the past year with it being said they are expanding into overseas markets now. They are also into the vehicle modification scene to so allot is going on. As previously hinted it might be the case of giving them a call as id imagine the amount of emails and online forms coming in each day would be substantial.

Definitely still around. Bloke on another forum I'm on works for them. Will be at the upcoming Adelaide show, then the Melbourne one.

As a consumer, I would expect a reply from a facebook message. As much as I hate using it, I get more business through facebook than any other means. A lot of people seem to think of facebook messages as a better way of communicating than email and a small business really needs to embrace that to survive. It's the only reason I have an account.

Whilst I agree (unfortunately), I also think that the best form is the good old phone call to the supplier direct.

Yep, I'm sure they are, as I have being driving past a factory unit that has being undergoing some big renovations, drove past yesterday and there is a patriot campers sign on the front fence, so I can only assume they are either moving into a bigger factory or going to have 2 factories, new one is just around the corner from the existing one.

Pick up the ph and ring.

I'm pretty flat out during the day so, like a lot of people these days, i rely on email communication. And why have a "contact us" or "enquiry" form on the web page if they don't want people to use it.

I own a couple of business and I see email, facebook or even texting as an integral part of the dialogue with customers.

... and many don't. If they are a small outfit that are out in the factory building Shit all day, last thing they care about is stalkerbook, or email.. but a phone call they can take it on the fly....

anyway you gots your answer.

Pick up the ph and ring.

I wish that was so easy... and if they said "hey the only way to contact us is to call" then i would wait until eventually I had a day off and hopefully I remember to call them. But they do have a "contact us" form that you fill out. I assume that's so they can reply to customer enquiries - not just to piss off prospective customers by ignoring them.. right?

Anyway, it's their business and they can do what they want. i just expected a high level of customer service for a high level product with a high level price. Must be nice to be able to afford to turn (ignore) business away.

I despise talking on the phone,  If I can't walk into your store or do business via electronic means, then I will not spend a cent with your company. I do not carry my phone with me, I will ignore calls from people, will not answer unless i know the number and rarely return calls even to my own family. If it's really important they will ring me 17 times. Or my wife.

... and many don't. \

And I suspect those that don't won't have a form on their webpage that says "Contact Us".
I'm not suggesting anyone HAS to do business that way... it's just not ideal to suggest / offer that service and not follow it up. Don't want to respond to customer online enquiries - easy, don't have a big-ass form "Contact Us".

that's the exact reason why I filled out THEIR enquiry form. I'm on the phone all day long and by the time I'm able to call them they are shut. it's a pretty simple email i sent them... "i'm interested in your 2016 X1, can you please tell me the ball weight?"

I am choking on my weaties this morning laughing at the arguments from businesses who cant cope with emailed and social media  enquiries from potential clients. ....

This must have been what it may have been like 100 years ago when a few enterprises were complaining about F#$&@ clients calling them on that new fangled thing that Mr Graham Bell recently invented. ...

"Can't they just write me a letter and mail it off on the pony express -- that's always worked, thank you"

Yup

Don't want the traffic? Don't have a presence, hell don't even have an email address on your website if you won't answer them, most of the big companies don't, you have to call a Dubai call centre.

But

If you do have an email address, or contact us form bloody well answer it, it's common courtesy.

If you have time to read and comment on forums, you have time to call, or just google Patriot Campers Ball Weight.  In 2 seconds you can get some articles.  Not sure how old they are but surely weight hasn't changed much.

i must be your polar opposite...no interest at all communicating via emails and I've never joined Facebook etc. I expect people to answer their phones and be able to speak to someone who knows all about their products they sell, and I expect to not wait forever on hold also...hence why a mower shop I rang on Sunday missed out on me spending $400 at it. After waiting over 15 minutes on hold I hung up, why bother being open on a Sunday if you don't staff the place to handle it's business, I'll buy that product in the future somewhere else now.

That was what I was thinking.

And sometime the new way, email etc, doesn't always work, as in, I've had clients ring me saying ,"did you get that email I sent yesterday?"  And I e sent quotes to clients who have then rang asking were there quote is?

Anyway, I contacted patriot for you and yes they are still open.  I contacted via FB and webpage and got response on both.

So you didnt get the new ball weight then? Maybe a quick email to find that out? The first three emails were very late at night...for some reason they never answered their phone... the nerve!

Like i said earlier...that's MY preference to do business...ALL forms of communication. I dont have a problem with others not using facebook or email. In fact, i appreciate the honesty of those that only put a phone number on their website. I just dont appreciate being on hold for more than 2 minutes if i am forced to call.
My post was about offering the service of electronic communication and not being attentive to it. My background is Law + IT (ip) and i just dont buy "nah we never got the email". Thats the thing people say when they never replied or they havent checked rheir email. Its the modern version of "your cheque is in the mail".
Im not angry they didn't follow it up but disappointed. 7 other camper places all responded to my emails over this last week within 5 hrs of me reaching out to them. 1 took 24 hrs.
I'm not saying my way is the only way and i am certainly NOT casting dispersions on anyone that prefers to call. Sorry if it came across like that - it was unintentional. Hoping a couple of you can accept it as my personal choice.

If you have a contact us email option then answer it ...pretty simple IMHO..the OP used the template they had requested and got no response he was then forced to ask online if the company was still trading....

If i owned that business I would pretty quickly

1- remove the contact us as I cant service it
2- remove the contact us as it is now causing online conversation about weather my business is still trading in a sphere that has companies folding all the time...

either way its not good and another example of the double edged sword that is social media and online platforms .. good when its good but a massive liability when you dont service it.

to the OP i dont think your out of line expecting a reply on the platform you used ..if they do not want to answer emails then dont offer the platform and only have a phone number. then you may have called them.

just my 2cents

I,m off to answer today's email inquires  ;D ;D

I can't see a problem using email etc considering the OP highlighted it was afterhours. Obviously wasn't expecting an immediate answer but next day I would expect it.

Ring small business on the phone. He is in the middle of something and has to stop to take the call. 16 seconds later he hangs up the phone and now has to restart all over what he was interrupted on.

I'd rather answer the email at a time that suits me during the day than be interrupted midway through something.

not in the original post he didn't say that, no mention of after hours...but yes I do agree that if they provide the option, they should monitor it properly, even though I'm not interested in communicating that way myself.

I guess I just read the thread wrong?
The way I read it, was the op was asking a question? "Are patriot still in Business?" But he didn't really want an answer for that. He was just having a rant about people not responding to emails or social media? Maybe he should of just posted it in the rant thread or the thread title of, " why don't business respond to emails or social media?"
That's where I got confused.

Anyway, he got his answers, and to clarify, I use all types of communication to conduct my business.

Maybe he should of just posted it in the rant thread or the thread title of, " why don't business respond to emails or social media?"
That's where I got confused.

Anyway, he got his answers, and to clarify, I use all types of communication to conduct my business.
you haven't responded to my pm?
