Hi
Have just ordered a new Ultimate XPLOR and noted it comes with the Waeco 110 L fridge.
Has anyone done any real world power usage of the fridge ?
Also given the fridge is rated as tropical has anyone fitted the winter kit to the fridge in the Ulti as I can see that in 2/3rds of Aus the freezer would be starting to defrost each night?
Regards

Last weekend I did some timing on mine.......30 deg outside.....van under dappled shade.....fridge set at 4 deg....cuts back in at 7deg.....compressor runs for 20mins.....idle for 15mins.
This is with an external controller that runs it from a probe mounted near the back wall . I found run times were worse with the original thermostat controlling things.
I don't have a winter kit, but yes, the freezer will defrost a bit at temps approx 10 deg or colder. I still haven't seen an explanation of how the winter kit works, because if you run the fridge longer in cold temps to keep the freezer cold, the stuff in the fridge will be colder as well, so stuff may start to freeze in there ??

Thanks for that
Would you expect to consume 50-60 amp hours at 30deg or less ?
I think I need to invest in the "winter kit" as the fridge essentially stops running when the temp outside gets down to 18 deg which hopefully for us is most of the time.

I haven't seen any probs until approx 10 deg or maybe a lot lower.
You would have to do some calcs to determine a/h's ( mainly cause I'm too lazy ), but it will cycle a lot less during the night.
I run 3 X 120 a/h batts and 4 full days ( 96hrs ) is my maximum I like to run the batteries down to.

Thanks for that Gronk
Oldmate thanks for the welcome.
The Ulti is due in April so will need to hunt down some South Coast locations to visit whilst we are down there.

Hi Jason
and welcome to the Ultimate family...
the cl 110 do suck a bit of power in the summer time as to how much I never really cared, just keep the solar on it and you should be fine
as for the winter kit, last May (I think) at the Ulti muster in Glen Aplin near Stanthorpe it got down to -3 and the freezer did start to defrost
I wouldn't worry about as -3 is pretty rare were I live.
