I had my eye on a Sony Muteki [MHCV3] for the shed but at $343 waited for it to go on special or sale.
Well Dicky has been advertising a lot up to 70% off audio and speakers.
So thought now is the time a checked out the sale price. And laughed.

and more good news

Being a retail owner, I cant understand how people fall for these sales. A few of our competitors over inflate retail prices then give a huge discount and end up with their normal mark up price and people fall for it every time.
You might say, why don't I do it?
Well it's illegal to do so.
So how do they get away with it?
I have no idea!!!!!!!!!
If these discounts were actually real to the normal retail price, I would be broke and so would these big retail stores.
-
Having said that..................."up to" is the key words. I wonder if there is only 1 product on 70% which has a 70% inflated mark up.
-
The ads I saw said the one day specials were only available in store, not online? I did not go to our local store, could not think of anything I needed. :) Kevin

I got a seagate 1TB portable hard drive for $39 at Dicksmith today :)

Gets back to knowing what the price was before the "sale" price ?
Not relevant, but my father used to own a country clothing store, and he never had sales, his markup was all he could afford to give.....and that's how it was........until a major shopping centre came to town.....and he couldn't compete with the bulk buying power of the "name " brands.......and he was lucky he was at retirement age !!

I hear ya!!!!!!!!!
and I operate the same way. My large retail competitor operates with huge bogus sales .................but their product is no where as good as ours nor does it last as long, but their marketing campaign works, its a proven fact and I can't compete with. Many still get sucked in.
You get what you pay for!
Mass marketing works if you're in a large scale retail business. I'm local and know my product is better for a fact............locals know it........but try marketing outside local area's and try dealing with shyte councils with 3rd party advertising................its a no win situation.
I spend at least 5% of revenue on advertising, its a huge chunk after all other overheads
I'm seriously thinking of giving the retail bricks and mortar the flick and working from home.

They do odd things with their online pricing. I bought a CamelBak backpack and it was $100 one day, $70 the next, it was up and down like a yo yo.

Now at a special online price.

and again, wonder if they do this all products.
