I know xmas is about family and christian celebration, and while recognising both, I'm counting down the day for work to shut down and actually have a 'head space' break.
First week (pre xmas) I've snagged a beach/lake side camp site in east Vic to flick a rod or two, then home xmas day to catch up with family.
2nd week (xmas/new year) at home at this stage to tick off some of those odd jobs.
What are you planning?
-
Working, I've just had November off, back to 'new' work tomorrow :(
-
Christmas shutdown. I wish!!
We get Xmas day off but have to work Boxing Day (Saturday) and Sunday because the Boxing Day holiday is Monday in Qld
Cheers

Haven't been given the official dates yet but think I'll be off from the 24th to the 4th. I'll be taking care of the most important job at home in that time, watching ever second of cricket I can! Plan on doing SFA as long as I can!
-
Ahhh roll on bundy off time 10.30 pm on the 22 Dec, Then its two weeks of.............................What ever we want to do and waiting for our first grand child to enter our world ...

To translate into retired language, a break is like the time between prostate exams.... >:D

16 working days left! Can't wait, the new van is heading down to Lorne for two weeks camping with the extended family for Christmas, I've then got another week or so before I head back to work, really need a break this year.... And a Christmas present to our clients, it looks like all the kitchens we've got booked are going to be installed this year! Woohoo!
-
Forced office closure midday 24th, returning 6th Jan. At least half is free holiday but 3 days comes out of our leave allowance.
Xmas at home for the first time in 8 years. No more dealing with overcrowded van parks, and trying to hide Xmas presents in the car on the way down, , then 4 days riverside camping at New Years, near Gloucester, with some like minded fools, sorry...families. ;)
-
Well....... some of us can wish for a break, but that is not gonna happen............
Seeing in Christmas Day working nightshift in emergency dept - and you guessed it- New Years eve as well- with a few other night shifts thrown in for good measure. I think it is called joining the dots - public holiday dots that is!! :D

It's the time when us sensible people stay firmly at home, whilst everyone else goes camping and pays through the nose for anything and everything.
Once the "break" is over we can hit the road again.

First xmas where we won't be with my family, hubbies family, travelling, camping nor drinking.
Currently 8+ months pregnant with baby due on xmas day so yeah...counting down the days..... :o :'(
-
Will be down Port fairy most of Jan. Can't wait to get away

We only close for Christmas day.
I worked every other holiday this year but missed this one.
We will be going to the FNQ MySwaggers meet this weekend.
Then nowhere until all the little kiddies are back at school.

Not looking forward to the 2 weeks before Christmas, when everyone drops off the stuff they spoke about repairing in January. "Oh but I need it for Christmas." >:(
Happens every year.

2 weeks before? That started a month ago for me. Lol

Midday on the 24th is shutdown for me.
About 1pm, the boat will leave the marina..... :cup: YeeHa
-
Midday on the 24th for me as well. Back to work on 29th to midday 31st. Load up for O/N camping in HC for New Years.
-
I'm not back until the 4th of Jan 2016.... Yabba Dabba Doo.
I've allowed for a $1,000 of boat fuel over the Xmas gap, and i'm gunna use it all up too.
Had the outboard for the tender home today to give it a tickle up and make sure its ready to go. (All 3.3HP of it.)
-
Gee Christmas shutdown, remember when that meant 4 weeks? means 4 days for most of us these days!
Same as I do for Easter, lock the gate and don't leave the property, to many idjuts out there on the roads and at the boat ramps!
-
I get an extended Xmas shutdown this year. I am currently on standby for our new baby ( yes an actual real baby 😄 ) to arrive then it no more work for me till 4th of Jan. I'd say this time next week I'll be off work for the year!! Yahoo! 4 weeks off
Stocked up the beer fridge on the weekend and cranked it up to just below freezing!
Unfortunately the camper won't be getting a run until Bub gets a little older.
-
11 more days till I get a month off, wohoo can't wait

Well, I'm in education, so I'm already on break, and don't work again until sometime in Feb :cup:
That being said, I don't get paid again until then either >:(
-
Used to work in manufacturing and they had a 5 week shut down every year. But as a beanie with a December year end couldn't take the time but was still good as very few were around,
I'm looking forward to the 4 day weekend shutdown
-
Just did the numbers....
52 properties left to mow and 3 major hedge trims and i'm done. (Christ, I hope we don't get any rain, that'd really stuff it up)
I've knocked back now, somewhere around 15 to 20 new jobs with another one today.
"sorry mate, can't fit any more in... fully booked up to and after Xmas"
It was just a blank stare that I got back.
-
Last work day 18th Dec back to work 11th Jan going camping 26th Dec until 4th Jan woo hoo.
-
No such luck here, have to keep the big silver birds in the air, so all you lot can travel. Working Xmas, boxing and Newyears days.
Goes with the territory!
