Scottish Madeira , Big Hairy Jordies in dresses >:D

I attended the 2013 Tattoo in Edenborough Scotland and it was fabulious.
We looked at going to the Melbourne one but it was nearly cheaper to go back to Scotland.
With accom, airfares and tickets we would get no change from 3k
But hey, if its half as good as the one I went to, it will be great.
Have fun

Yeah, the atmosphere at the castle is something we'll never forget, absolutely fantastic :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup:

They did the theme from local hero starting with a single electric geetar.
From there the drums started in and other instruments.
The crescendo was when all, and I mean all of the bagpipes came in out of nowhere, it was dark and you didnt see them come in.
All the hairs on my body stood out, it were fabulous. Like nothing I have even see before.
I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Even the hassle of getting out of the place and the constant drizzle could not dampen the mood or enjoyment.
I would recommend it to anyone.

Won't be going to Melbourne but I never miss the delayed broadcast of the Edinburgh tattoo. Love it.

Yeah, I watched it for years and enjoyed it on the tv.
But being there is the real icing on the cake, the atmosphere is electric and you sit on the edge of your seat the whole time.
It was worth every cent.
If you ever get the chance, go for it.

Excellent event, definitely once in a lifetime and worth the wait. Can't believe we saw fireworks inside Etihad Stadium, that'll give the AFL something to strive for.https://vimeo.com/155267670 (https://vimeo.com/155267670)

I went on friday night, great show, Top Secret Drummers were by far the best act of the night, followed by the NZ ARMY band.

I also really liked the SA Police Band and the NZ Marching Girls.

We watch the TV broadcast every year, but for a few years now, we've thought that the quality of the Tattoo has been going down :'(
Big problem is that they seem to be reducing the military side of things every year in favour of the Outer Mongolian Yak Herders Choir & Dancers, civillian bands & so on >:(
Going back a few years they'd put on proper military displays with gun races, simulated attacks on the castle & similar.
If I wanted to watch singers & dancers, I'd watch Australian Idle (& no, I wouldn't, not if it was the last show on TV!) but when I look at a MILITARY Tattoo, I want to see military bands & displays.

Fair enough.
At this event in Melbourne they had the NZ North Island Abelone Farmers and Fishery Coop singers do a pretty good interpretation of NZ's Got Talent Kiwi War Dance finishing with a Haka. I thought they were pretty scarey and entertaining.
