Looking forward to MC this year...
A mate of mine really studies the form.... (videos the Corfield Cup etc etc - replays it over and over again; more or less frame by frame; etc...)
Last year - he put down $500 > got back $4,500... a mate of his; (following his feedback); won $12.5K... 8)
He says he's got it narrowed down to 2 horses now - (has not said what they are yet - and I have not asked the names either)...
The really funny thing is I know less than nothing about the ggs etc.... My mate says don't gamble more than you are prepared to loose... (good advice)..
(Please no PMs etc for 'tips'; my post is not about that... just for a bit of fun) ... I will probably lay down $50-$100 ... and will fess up re: the day; win loose or bust..
-
i normally gamble $100
also know nothing about the GGs
spread across the field quinellas and trifectas are my sin
just missed the trifecta last year
and won a few quinellas over the years
years back two of my mates were having a gamble and asked if i would like to go in on a trifecta
ok i say
so they box three for first
same three plus 1 for second
same 4 + 1 for third
i got to pick two horses (picked by name, colour or number no real thought put into it)
but old mate got a bit antsy about one of the horse i picked
after much debate 1 of my horses was removed (was paying 100 odd to 1)( i would remove it to)
well it come in and so did my other pick.
the trifecta paid $375000.00
i am sure he is still kicking himself

Hi,
I have a brilliant system for Melbourne Cups; never lost yet.
Cheers
-
OMG Adam, $375K - that's huge...
And addictive like crack ;D ;D 8)
I have put my $100 down on one horse to win...
:police: SWMBO had only authorised $50; then looked at me like I was deranged for even wanting to... LOL :-* :'( >:D
I have only ever done sweepstakes in the MC; so its a big deal - and I am excited... even though I feel guilty about not telling her about the $100 investment...
The main thing is I am really looking forward to hanging out with my mate - at his place to watch the race.... I have worked my guts out at work over the past couple of weeks - so am really looking forward to getting away and for some camaraderie with the bros...

What is a Melbourne Cup ? ??? Is it any thing like a tin pannikin ? ???Does it come with Dot paintings ??? ;D
Sorry , don't follow the horses, always figured that one horse power is not enough.
Remember to gamble within your budget, and enjoy your day.
-
I've heard the tv coverage today will be using special drones to capture the race
-
Hi,
I've been told that gambling is a tax on the mathematically inept, so not being good with numbers, I've not risked being taxed yet again.
Cheers

... hey boys - don't ya just love it on this forum when a bunch of bozos; (who have no interest in a topic) - none the less feel like they have to chime- in; with their $#^&@*...
(it gets a bit boring ya know..)....
(Drone commentary always the exception though; I always like reading about that.. ;D ;D )...
But otherwise; go talk to trollaholics; will ya!... ;D

well put my bets on this morning and went a little over my $100.00 budget
spent $132.00 oops (still no more that a big night at the pub, but without the hangover)
put on a bunch of quinellas (boxed 4 ggs on each)
and covered the field
so giddy up horsie, Ads wants to do some/start mods to the camper

Got my bets on.
Couple of bets and a few beers this arvo. Bit of harmless fun I reckon!
-
I never bet (can't afford to) but the first time ever I was very tempted this year. I have three picked and would love to see any of them over the line first.
Horses are wonderful animals and that is why I watch. Couldn't care less about the stupid outfits people are wearing.
-
bet $132.00 return $0
about the only horse i didn't have on the cards
the wife tells me after i put in all my picks, bet on 19 your parents are on holidays there (penzance) atm
only 365 days till my next bet

Went to a work organized do at one of the local pubs.. as part of the goody bag contents we all got a $2 mystery bet - mine.. Exacta with some donkey at 1st, and horse I've heard about in second place.. Almost chucked it before the race even started... luckily I got involved other activities  .. and this morning - nice new boots for the ute ! :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup:
-
very nice Rokster
i can't even buy the valve caps with my takings from the day :'(
heard a bloke on the radio 4kq this morning
picked up a first four mystery pick at the pub while getting a carton of beer
didn't open it until after the race was finalised and he had a winner $101000
BaseCamp must of had a win and still out partying
-
nah - sadly my tipster mate bummed out...
He was thinking it was going to be "Trip to Paris"... which had an okay start ... but got a bit boxed in at the end..
So that was $100 bucks down the gurgler...
But what's worse - is that I was really hoping that investment ;D would come through...
As MC cost me an insurance excess: -- (which I am guessing will be $250 - $400...); I haven't checked yet OMG!!
Having worked all day Sat; and Sunday etc; and with a 4am start on Tuesday - (re: Melbourne Cup functions for my business) - tired; stressed; rushed; and in a blur; I managed to wipe off the rear fender and taillight assembly off a 3 week old brand new Renault hatchback thingy...
WOW - its like the rear end of that car just "exploded"... carnage and bits of plastic everywhere...
Basically I was driving along side (of its rear) - perpendicular on my passenger's side -- in my car park; at about 0.5km/hr - and I suppose the checkerplate tool bins hanging from the bottom of my ute tray deck must have just "caught her plastic" ....a bit..
Then it was like the whole rear (last part) of her car - just came apart... boom!!
If that's not bad enough; she is; ... or (now no doubt - "was") a customer of mine ...oops ...gulp!
Even more "odd" - if you saw my rig - there is not a spec of damage to it as a result of the carnage...
That's not a dent; no scratches; indents... absolutely zilch to my 4WD...
Can you imagine when I file the claim form with my insurance...??
Policy Holder's Claim: $Zero
Victim's Claim: $12K (guess?)...
And no - I didn't take any photos... It was embarrassing enough! She was on the brink of tears, (understandably); her 3yo was crying; and there was a bub strapped into the capsule... (these 2 little humans had been locked in - whilst she was in my store shopping...) oops x 2...
Anyway - I'll get the broker onto the case asap - and that's why we all have insurance, I guess....

This popped up on Facebook. Lucky git. No it's not mine

Unfortunately this woman wasn't so lucky. Posted an $825 winning ticket including bar code on wasteofspacebook, and someone else used the barcode to collect..... Dont' post photos of your barcoded or QR coded items (including plane tickets people)

interesting that the image has been reversed (TAB appears as BAT on the ticket) ? I assume it was the article picture that was reversed for editorial reasons, and not the facebook pic ? otherwise the barcode would not have worked ?

Heard on the radio this morning that Mick Molloy and Lemo were at a function together, and had $200 each way on the winner in the cup...they picked up about $25K apparently.
-
Can someone tell me if this "system" would work??
There's about 30? horses in the race, right?
You put say $20 on each one to win.. = this has cost you approx $600
Maybe you do another $600 on all sorts of crazy combos / trifectas etc...
You do all of this a week or so? out - when the odds are all higher?
Will this "system" see you break even / come out ahead?? ... or nah...
I am sure heaps of punters have thought of this one already - and I am equally sure it ain't that simple... ;D ;D ;D
I guess the answer is "yes" - when the WINNING horse will pay ya a 100 to 1....
-
Tryimg to fund your Big Red trip 😀?
There is. 24 horses in the race, so if you back each equally the winner will need to pay +$24 for you to break even, without your exotics.
So yeah, no
-
... thanks trevc... math was never my strong point ;D ;D ;D
